Property Description

Las Cometas (the kites) is Jerico's only backpacker hostel. We welcome you to explore and chill in our colourful town in the hills of Antioquia. The hostel is a traditional Jerico courtyard building with plenty of space to share a cold beer and maybe a bonfire with other travelers, and hammocks under the orange tree in the garden for you to relax with a cup of local coffee.

We love Jerico and the surrounding green hills, and we work with local artisans, guides, adventure tours and even Spanish teachers to help you make the most of your stay. Las Cometas is located on a quiet street in the center a short walk from the sights, museums, shops and restaurants and bars. Every morning we serve a free specialty coffee from a local coffee farm with a Jerico chocolate.

We have good wifi, showers, fully equipped kitchen, laundry service and a mix of dorms and private/ ensuite rooms, View House Rules

Lovely place run by lovely people. My stay here was a highlight of five months of travel. Woke up to the clip-clop of men on horses trotting down the street, which is hard to beat. There is a lovely patio and garden, plenty of hammocks, and a well-equipped kitchen. Location is perfect-- a very short walk to the center of town but also close to the river and a road that leads into impossibly green hills. Jerico has a lot to offer despite being tiny.

I had a fabulous time at Las Cometas. It is a wonderful setting to hang out and relax after traveling around a lot. Jess and Jorge are great hosts and really look after you. I particularly loved the kitchen which is well-equipped for a hostel and provides a great opportunity to make any treats you’ve been missing while traveling. Highly recommend!

I was told this place was amazing, but i could have never imagined it would have been as fantastic as it was. I got to lay in bed and listen to the horses trot by, listen to the GORGEOUS hems from sunday mass. The owners have made so many activities readily available and they're so passionate about thr city. It's contageous. Loved it!

Owners work very hard to cater to their guests. Easy to find and near everything you want. They deliver what they promise. Suggestion, if quiet is important ask for a room away from reception.

Lovely garden /courtyard to chill out in a hammock or socialize with others. Bed was hard and not super comfortable but the place was quiet so I slept well. Things could have been a tad cleaner. Overall I had a great stay.

One of the only (if not only) hostels in Jerico that I could find. Nice spot, really pretty view of the church. Bunk beds were comfortable, nice porch/garden areas to relax. They have a lot of volunteers that didn't all seem to know what was going on, as the owner was away. The bathrooms were kind of dirty, but the shower was hot. I chose it for the amenities they offered (could book a waterfall/coffee tour and local chocolate), neither of which I was able to get/do, which was disappointing.

Overall we had a good stay its the best price you’ll find for checking out lovely jerico. The dorm room is quite cramped and the beds are hard but they have a helpful info board, the courtyard is nice if you can find space and the showers work fine. It seemed there were more off-duty volunteers hanging out than guests most of the time which was a little off putting for us, especially with using the kitchen. But the staff were all very friendly, with some being more knowledgeable than others.

Beds are the stuff nightmares are made of! I am not a sensitive sleeper but they were so lumpy and hard I had to contend with a wire sticking into my back! and the owner is very grumpy and complains a lot loudly infront of guests which somewhat sours the atmosphere. The volunteer staff are an absolute gem they work very hard and always there to help.
