Hostelworld says

Las Musas Hostel was named Most Popular in Madrid at the 2011 Hoscars and it's not hard to see why. Our guests frequently praise the 'amazingly sweet, efficient and helpful staff' who are 'hilarious and a lot of help when it [comes] to nightlife and things to do during the day'. The hostel runs highly-recommended tours, with good internet and a large, colourful common area and kitchen. It's down the street from Tirso de Molina metro station and a supermarket, near La Latina, Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol. We particularly like this hostel's proximity to the weekly Rastro market.

I have stayed at Las Musas several times and always go back. My room was lovely with balcony and roofs cape view, and the stall are un-failingly helpful and knowledgeable, without exception. I am older than most of the folk using the hostel, but always feel welcome.

This was my second time staying at Las Musas. Check in is still fast, the staff are still knowledgable and helpful, and the facilities are fun to hang out in. It wasn't quite as clean as the last time I stayed; the kitchen wasn't as attentively watched as last time, the bathrooms were missing hand soap, and the mattress had some stains that had clearly been sitting there a while. Still wouldn't mind staying again, but they could afford to be more attentive to cleanliness.

Really nice rooms and beds, the AC was a plus. Nice kitchen. One out of the 2 shower stalls was non-functional.

Good value for money. It’s a small hostel so personally it didn’t fit me very well - I wish I went to e.g Mola so that I could’ve met more people. There wasn’t much of a social atmosphere within the hostel. The pub crawl was very good and that’s where I met people (from other hostels).

Worth it for the price, really good location especially since Madrid is so walkable. Really good laundry service! The downstairs area is good, I liked the big tables because I had some work to do. Need more plugs in the room, or at least extension leads. It seemed the kind of place where if you wanted to meet people you could but also if you wanted some time alone you could do that too. Quite basic, but overall I would recommend because it's so cheap. Bring your own padlock for the lockers!

Perfect location, clean room (I had a double room with my boyfriend with shared bathroom). Our room was facing the rooftop terrace but we had no problems falling asleep. After reading so many comments about the noise, I would suggest to people not to go to an hostel in the heart of Madrid if they are looking for peace and quiet. The staff was very helpful and they gave us the possibility to leave our suitcase for a few hours after the heck out!

Nice hostel in a nice area, only stayed one night because I ended up going to Toledo. Book the ones with private bathroom as the shared bathrooms are quite ridiculous, especially the see through showers (wtf...)

Las Musas Hostel says

Our friendly multilingual staff make you feel at home and I think that puts us ahead of the game. We even have a chef making food for our guests almost every day and we always accommodate guests with special food requirements. With activities planned daily, our guests are never short of things to do. The fun fusion of group activities and day trips are a great way for guests to meet each other.
The Reina Sofia, Thyssen Museums, Puerta del Sol and the Royal Palace are all no more than 10 minutes\' walk from the hostel. The Prado Museum is the world's second biggest museum and it's a total must-see for anyone visiting Madrid!
I would say that the average age range of our guests is somewhere between 21 and 35 years. Our hostel has very large common areas so it caters for guests who want to relax and guests who want to party.
