Guests tell us 'the staff always welcome you with a big smile and a caipirinha' and create a 'relaxed, friendly and fun' atmosphere. The hostel has spacious, clean rooms and individual bathrooms. We like their outdoor area, described by one traveller as a 'cute little terrace where you have breakfast and drinks, with two hammocks'. Superb

I stayed here for the 1st time in Feb during carnival and had such a good experience. N.b. there’s no WiFi on the upper floors but that’s OK, life goes on without WiFi! On my return to Rio I knew I wanted to stay here but checked the reviews anyway (not great) and wondered if I had overvalued it. Well, I can confirm I didn’t. I LOVE THIS HOSTEL. All of the important things like location, staff, vibe, caipirinhas are just perfect and being here feels like home.

Everything was great but the air conditioning didn’t work in our room and is only on for an 8-10 hour period overnight, which we didn’t even get. Couldn’t sleep in the miserable summer heat so may as well have slept outside. Other than that it was a great place.

Really nice, helpful staff. The place had a great vibe without being overly party-centric. Right next to the beach and in a safe neighborhood. Dorms had plenty of space and did not feel cramped.

Pros: really clean (I saw the cleaners every day of my stay), huge lockers under beds, excellent location 1 block from the beach, 3 blocks from the metro and just off a street full of nice bars and restaurants. Cons: bar food a little expensive, some staff weren’t the friendliest (although others were!). Overall would recommend!

    Very Good

The best part about this hostel is the location - just a few blocks from the beach and in Leblon, one of the nicest areas of Rio. The actually hostel is cramped and security is not great, anyone can walk in and into the rooms, although there are lockers. It’s a place to sleep only. Staff were largely helpful.

I know it was carnival, but it was overpriced for what you get. The showers are cold too. The breakfast is good though.

The room was really small without a window. Next to that, the bathrooms too. We werent there during carnaval but the bathrooms were dirty. The staff helped us booking a trip, however they werent super active and helpful. There is no common area and it is all very small and dark.

This hostel is OK. The staff are nice and there’s a bar. The beds are clean and that’s about it for the good side. The bad side is that the bathrooms are not great. The sinks always clog, toilets don’t flush. The internet in the bedrooms is absolute trash and keeps on disconnecting every 30 seconds. The breakfast is bad and the coffee is bad. They try to make you buy it for 10 at check in or else it’s 15. There is no real “chilling room” other than the bar, so you can’t meet other travellers

Lemon Spirit Hostel says

I think what puts us ahead of the rest is our prime location on an awesome piece of Leblon Beach, next to Ipanema, two malls, two supermarkets and bus routes going anywhere in the city.
The Botanical Gardens, just 15 minutes away by bus, are an awesome ride.
In this neighbourhood the theatres are very popular, especially on rainy days, since the films are subtitled in Portuguese instead of being dubbed. There's two movie theatres across the block and six cinemas at Shopping Leblon, three blocks from the hostel.
Personally I like to recommend a visit to Parque Lage. If a person doesn't have a deep interest in the Botanical Gardens, at the park the visitor gets a bit of the environment of nature, beyond the artistic atmosphere of the school of visual arts in a beautiful mansion that includes the excellent Cafe du Lage.
For amusement, guests mostly enjoy the beach, one block from the hostel. During the night, depending on the day of the week, they have different options, from the famous Lapa Street Party to the Favela Funk Party.
Our guests are aged between 23 and 30 years - people looking for comfort, but without losing the atmosphere of the hostel, always looking to meet new people and enjoy the maximum of what the city can offer. Andre, Owner
