Overview

Experience the bustle of Beijing from Leo Hostel's central location. You can taste local brews at our quirky on-site bar, and there's a pool table for when you get some beer-fuelled confidence. We love to show you what Chinese culture is all about, so you're invited to dumpling parties and traditional tea ceremonies. Our English-speaking staff are at reception 24/7 and can arrange epic tours to the Great Wall, too. For laid-back evenings after full-on days at the Summer Palace, relax with a board game or in front of a movie.

Location

If culture and history are at the top of your list, you’re well placed here. The Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and the Palace Museum are all within 30 minutes on foot. No visit is complete without seeing the city’s famous hutongs – Zhuanta Hutong is the most ancient (about 700 years old) and is 6.6km away. From the airport, you can take the subway to DongZhiMen, get off at QianMen and walk for about 10 minutes to the hostel. You can also reach QianMen subway stop from Beijing Railway Station and Beijing South Railway Station.

Rooms and Dorms

Whether you book a shared dorm or private room, you’ll have a soft mattress and clean linen every day. Our housekeeping team keeps everything spick and span, and we have air con to keep you cool when the summer gets sticky. Wake up to a hot shower – we've got towels and hairdryers to hire if you need them – and lockers on hand to keep your valuables safely stowed.

Extras and activities

Love Chinese cuisine? You can try authentic (as well as Western) dishes in our restaurant. If you fancy some downtime, browse our book exchange for a new read, catch up on world events with our daily English newspapers or check out your feeds on our free Wi-Fi. I loved my stay here. The staff are super accommodating to whatever you need, and the main area is excellent for meeting people. The markets and restaurants in the surrounding area provide a superb range for any budget or taste. Definitely stay here.

    Superb

I came to Leo Hostel for 2 nights and ended up staying 4. The location was incredible right in the middle of the Huton area and in between 2 metro lines. The hostel was filled with travelers and expats which was nice because they know the area well. There was a nice chill area with restaurant and bar as well. The place offers tours but we found the staff very w helpful when we wanted to get around on our own. The only complaint was the private room had no hot showers and there was one public.

This hostel is in a great location, not too far from the subway, but right in the middle of an older part of Beijing. There are several pedestrian only streets around this hostel with a lot of Beijings history. The cute feature here is a that there is a old electric tram that travels slowerly up and down the main perestrian street, it has its pantgraph up but there are no wires for it to connect too. The Chinese seem to have mastered perptual motion and will save the plant.

I happened to go on vacation when the Coronavirus was hitting China. I had this hostile books for 6 nights. But on the 4 day they decided to close the hostel down due to the virus. Which made me have to find a new accommodation. Staff was decently friendly, the food was very plain and the beers were overpriced. But it was a fun place to hang out and meet new people.

Bathrooms were usually smelly and the showers rarely had hot water. Bedrooms were okay, I like the privacy curtains, but didn’t like that some people were checking in at all hours of the night and were usually very loud when entering room. Also I booked a tour with a different company and they called the front desk to let them know of a change in my pickup time the next morning. No one from the front desk ever let me know of the time change and I was rushed in the AM when my guide picked me up.
