Hostelworld says

The staff of the Lisboa Central Hostel have an extremely high rating on Hostelworld, no doubt due to their friendliness and vast knowledge of Lisbon. They also make free soup every day as well as free milkshakes on Mondays, while one Hostelworld user said the free breakfast of fruit pancakes was the 'icing on the cake' of a 'faultless' stay. We like that they offer lots of little extras to their guests, from cheap sangria and beer to pub crawls and free popcorn on movie nights.

Overview

Experience the best of Lisbon at our family-run joint – Lisboa Central Hostel. You’ll be treated to movie nights with free popcorn, free soup every day (that means more cash for vino) and our friendly staff really know their stuff. Make new memories and friends at events like our free walking tours, pub crawls and Milkshake Mondays (yes, you read that right). We’re budget-friendly too, with free breakfast every day (don’t miss the fruit pancakes) as well as sangria happy hour and cheap beer at the bar. Have your free tea and coffee outside on our sun-soaked terrace, or sit down to a PlayStation game in the common room.

Location

When it comes to location, the clue is in our name: we're in the centre of the action. We’re on Avenida da Liberdade, which is dotted with cafés, bars and boutiques. Hop on the metro (Marquês de Pombal station is 4 minutes away) to tick must-sees off your list, like the photogenic Basílica de Estrela, just 18 minutes away. From the airport, take the metro towards São Sebastião, change at Saldanha to the yellow line (direction 'Rato'), and get off at Marquês de Pombal (it's a 50-minute journey).

Rooms and Dorms

Rest your head in one of our comfy rooms, some of which have en-suite bathrooms. Double and twin privates are perfect for couples, while mixed or female-only dorms are a budget-friendly (and social) option. We've designed mini staircases between the bunks so you can get to your bed easily, even in the dark. You'll also get a locker for your stuff, plus free linen.

Extras and activities

Our staff are on-hand at reception 24/7 to share their expertise – make sure to ask for your free city map! If you’re staying in on the odd rainy day, cook up your favourite dishes in our kitchen, have a Skype session on one of our free computers or binge a Netflix show using our free Wi-Fi.

As a solo female traveler, I loved staying at this hostel! When I first checked in, they gave me a welcome shot! The staff was very friendly and very helpful. There were pancakes in the kitchen one morning and there was soup for everyone at night. They also had a free wine/liquor tasting and offered free tours. I was only in Portugal for one day and staying at this hostel was the best choice I made! They had so many activities!

Overall fantastic! I would say this hostel is one of the best hostel I ever stay in my 43 countries-travelling journey. The best factor of their hostel definietly the people who work there. The thiagos and other staffs are really helpful and friendly. The location right in the heart of Lisbon. The facilities are not bad at all and the breakfast is delicious for a hostel level. They have curtain on their bed so you got your privacy, well not fully private but still worth for affordable price.

I loved Lisboa Central Hostel. Everyone was so nice, the bed was incredibly comfortable, and I got to meet people from all over. The night I was there, they had free dinner (a vegetarian soup that was delicious), and in the morning there was some breakfast items and coffee! Would definitely stay again!

Great hostel with good vibes. Everyone was friendly and they have regular activities to get guests to interact with each other. Not a party hostel. Excellent soup available each night.

Very well organised and well run hostel. Staff are especially friendly and welcoming. They are always preparing food/drink in the way of soups/milkshakes. Good balance of it being not too crazy in terms of noise etc, but having bar crawls/games nights etc. Very nice ambience and met some cool people there. Difficult to find any major faults.

Wow this hostel made my trip 100% better! I met some wonderful people, are some amazing food and had some wonderful adventures. The soup every night, occasional free drinks and welcoming atmosphere make it very easy to meet others. The rooms were clean and security is great! My only complaint is it’s a bit far from the “party/central hub” area, but that’s not a big deal at all. If you’re not staying here you’re wasting your money!

I loved my quick stay in this hostel! I only was there for a night but I know exactly where to book next time. The front desk receptionists are awesome, fun, speak fantastic English, and even gave me tips on what's worth seeing during my layover! Couldn't have asked for a better or more affordable stay.

Lisboa Central Hostel says

We're a small hostel that likes to treat every guest as part of our family. The Portuguese are known for their hospitality so we treat them according to Portuguese traditions, call them by their names and try to make them feel at home. I think that someone that's travelling likes to feel welcomed and likes to find a home-like atmosphere that makes them feel comfortable. We have daily activities to encourage interaction amongst the guests - things like sangria happy hour to some liquor, wine and Portuguese food tastings, movie nights, milkshakes for the hot days, hot drinks for the cooler days, and cupcakes and soups. Plus there's movies, cards, video games and pub crawls. It's pretty entertaining around here.
We're in Marques de Pombal, the centre of the city, a few minutes away from downtown and the historic area, and a short bus ride from Belem and metro trip from Nation's Park. When people ask me what they should do here, I usually say that Lisbon is a city for walkers - its typical neighbourhoods are inviting for long walks and every day you discover something new.
