Hostelworld says

We like that the recently-opened Lisbon Destination Hostel is located in Rossio train station, an ornate Romantic building of open spaces, high ceilings and big windows. Hostelworld visitors continually praise the 'informative, enthusiastic and very helpful' staff serving 'cheap delicious meals', pancake breakfast and 'quite a lot of free guided tours'. One Hostelworld users said this hostel 'will make your travel even more enjoyable, because the atmosphere you breathe in...makes you feel [at] home and it's like a big family'. Trains to Sintra leave from Rossio station and our guests assure us they 'never once heard a train' during their stay.

Property Description

Formerly called Rossio Patio Hostel, we offer the perfect location, great staff and an impressively high-standard hostel.

You know those most important landmarks that are drawn on maps? We’re one of them. We are situated right in the city’s most important square, Rossio, Lisbon’s “living room”.
Everything worth seeing is walking distance, although it will be hard to leave the hostel, with the cinema room, the free pool table and the bar that’s open every evening.

In July of 2011, smack in the heart of downtown Lisbon, a new hostel was born. It could be just another hostel, except it's not. Housed in one of Lisbon's most beautiful and renowned buildings - the Rossio Railway Station - an undisputed icon of late XIX Century Romantic architecture (and which has recently undergone a profound facelift), Lisbon Destination Hostel is perched around a winter garden, where light filters down from the rooftop, harmoniously flooding the patio and creating an ambiance that is both tranquil and upbeat.

We had planned on catering to a specific target, only to realize later that we didn't have to. We're confident that, between the ample first floor bedrooms (sleeping four to six people) with large windows overlooking the historic city, and the double rooms one floor up which peer out over the winter garden, you - whomever you may be - will find your niche.

And if all this weren't enough, please note that, from our doorstep, you can take the train to the town of Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site just 20 minutes ride away. Once you get there, you'll understand why.

Through we have activities every night, we are not a party Hostel, and after 0.00h you can always continue the party in the local pubs nearby. :)

Guests of all ages are welcome. Minors may only stay if you book a complete dormitory or a private room. View House Rules

Everyone is so welcoming and genuine! I arrived exhausted around 9 am after 2 flight cancellations and an 18hr layover, they made great efforts to make a bed available to me so I could get some rest and have been wonderful from the moment I checked in until the moment I checked out!

Loved this hostel so much! The staff was super friendly and helpful. The hostel is clean and safe and I loved the free breakfast and free sangria. There are lots of activities including a great free walking tour and bar crawls coordinated with another hostel. The common area quiets down at night so it’s easy to get sleep when you want to but you can go out with the bar crawl if you want to experience the Lisbon night life.

Great hostel with everything you could want, great common area with pool table, amazing breakfast with fresh pancakes, very close to the city centre, curtains on bed for privacy it a nice touch. Staff could be nicer want to stay extra night was no problem at all. Located right on top of a train station this is the station you will have to take if you want to go to Sintra and it’s literally 2 seconds away from the hostel. McDonald’s is also just across the road if you fancy some home comforts.

Great location. Beds are comfy & have privacy curtains. Rooms have aircon & big lockers. The shower for my dorm leaked & it could use some hooks on the back of the door to avoid putting your clothes & towel on the floor. Some spaces are a bit tight, you have to squeeze past the ensuite toilet to shut the door. Nice common area and big kitchen with free breakfast. Not very social, seems to be lots of small overseas tour groups staying here. Overall great if you just want a nice place to relax.

Great hostel in a central location. Got more of a relaxed vibe than a party one but that was fine for us on this occasion. You can use the facilities like the pool and rooftop bar at the sister hostel which is fab and the choice of daily activities rivals a lot of the bigger hostels I've stayed in.

Lisbon Destination Hostel says

Being situated inside of one of the central Lisbon stations makes our hostel the perfect place for people that always want to be in the middle of everything happening. You can easily access all the points of interest of Lisbon and you have bars, malls, museums just around the corner. Being in a national monument at the same time makes the place especially charming. Every guest is really excited by the idea of staying in a train station. It's amazing to write to your mum, 'Hey, I'm ok, I'm sleeping in the train station in Lisbon!'
From the first sight you're getting impressed by the beauty and style, but then once you get inside you also get the special care and our extremely homey atmosphere. There\'re many spontaneous events happening, like celebrating one's birthday or just inventing new games.
I think every visitor must experience walking through Lisbon's seven hills (I'm really sure there's more than seven). Nothing can compare with this sweet pain in muscles and amazement in the mind from all the views you get from looking over the beautiful city of Lisbon! To have it extremely fun we advise you to join our free walking tour.
Our hostel is perfect for anyone; party guys will find Bairro Alto in just three minutes' walking distance, history lovers will appreciate the neighborhood of museums, galleries and monuments and shopoholics will find malls and small local designer stores.
