Hostelworld says

Lisbon Lounge Hostel was rated the best small hostel in the world at the 2011 Hoscars and it's not difficult to see why. The hostel offers bike rentals, free fado and walking tours and the rooms have been decorated by local artists. The most popular feature seems to be the hostel's nightly three-course Portuguese meal, served with wine and bread for only â'¬9. One Hostelworld traveller told us dinner was 'a perfect opportunity to have good food for a great price and meet new people in a nice atmosphere'.

Property Description

With supreme comfort, cleanliness, style and security, the multi-award-winning Lisbon Lounge Hostel is the perfect place to call home during your visit to our fantastic city.

The LLH was the first hostel in Lisbon, opened in 2005 as a project by four Portuguese. From the beginning the concept was simple: to give backpackers a first-class Lisbon experience at budget prices. Through the years we have continued to improve our service, and we were recently voted the best Small Hostel in the World 2010 and 2011 by Hostelworld.

Our services include free walking tours, free nightlife tours, bicycle rental, mini bar and free coffee and tea all day. For a low cost you can join other guests for our three-course hostel dinner, cooked by our talented Portuguese chef. We also offer cheap van tours (during summertime) to the romantic historical town of Sintra and the local beaches.

Were located in the heart of Lisbon's historic Baixa district, the main tourist center of the city. The hostel is just around the corner from the iconic Rua Augusta, a grand and beautiful mosaic-tiled pedestrian street capped by a colossal arch. A short stroll will also take you to the charming suburb of Alfama, the oldest part of Lisbon and the home of Fado, the music of Portugal. At night you can walk to the famous Bairro Alto, a labyrinth of bars and street parties. All forms of public transport, including the airport shuttle and the Cascais beach train line, are within very short walking distance of our hostel.

With so much on offer, you will have everything you need to have a comfortable, memorable and fun stay in Lisbon. We look forward to welcoming you to the city we love!

Please note:  from the 1st of January 2019 a city tax of 2€ per person per night will be charged on top of your bill and it should be paid on site. This tax is charged to guests aged 13 and older. It is subject to a maximum amount of 14€ per guest. View House Rules

TLDR: This is a terrific place for new and experienced travelers alike to enjoy Lisbon! The space is very comfortable, clean, and convenient. Multiple bathrooms on every floor mean you are not waiting for the shower, as is typical at hostels. The hosts are so kind and gracious, providing you with some much info about the city and connecting you to activities. The atmosphere they’ve built is friendly and social. It is located on a popular tourist street, so expect to hear music and laughter if you go to bed

Everything was perfect. In the main city centre, my room had great view, they gave a decent breakfast and the price was good too. 24hour reception & self catering service as well. The train and tram stations were 2-4mins only.

Pleasant stay. There was an issue with flooding in my room, so I was unable to check in until late and ended up spending the night in two different rooms. The staff was very accommodating though. Very clean and calm hostel

Felt super secure, reception is open 24/7. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. It is located very central, easy to reach even after midnight. It is clean everywhere, though the floor in my room could've been cleaned more often in case that didn't happen daily. All in all I'd recommend staying here, thanks guys :)

Overall, a good hostel. However can be noisy on the balcony facing the street where there is constant noise from the below restaurants. Positive: breakfast provided for a good priced hostel. Negative: the overall atmosphere of this hostel was low.

Location is not great to be honest. Its in the middle of tourist central aka tourist hell of Lisbon. There's so much more to see of Lisbon than the shopping street and this area by the river. Plus there's a lot of traffic noise in the rooms. Other than that, perfect hostel and very calm atmosphere

The property was very clean and safe and in an amazing location. However, some of the bathrooms were in need of repair- some sinks weren’t working and locks on doors.

    Very Good

My actual stay at Lisbon Lounge was very good. The people I met at the hostel were nice and the staff were helpful. The reason why my rating is lower is because of the bar crawl. It’s such a disappointment to write this but we were advertised something very fun and worth the €18 we paid. We were supposed to have free shots at the pubs but one was not alcoholic and the other (which was real alcohol) was 1/4. The club was awful and a 30 minute walk away. We waited in line in the rain. Bad exp.

    Very Good

Nice hostel in the middle of the city and easy to walk to everywhere. Breakfast was included but only started at 8:30 which i find a bit late. Decent price. The only negative part would be security within the hostel. The key cards seem to open all the room doors - several times at night, some other hostel members entered our room drunk by mistake with their key card. Also, there is one shower door that doesn’t lock properly.

Lisbon Lounge Hostel says

I'd have to say the most unique thing about our hostel is our three big lounges and the graffiti walls in every lounge. What also makes us special is that we offer an amazing and inspired environment about which guests can build their travel experience. They can easily meet new friends, form lasting life-time bonds, and feel at home without ever having to worry about the hassle or stress that can accompany traditional hotel travel. We hear from a lot of our guests that what they like the most about us is the familiar feeling of hanging out at home with friends. When they aren't out trekking the town they can meet other guests over our wonderful dinners, participate in one (or many) of our free day and night tours or sip on a signature house cocktail at our bar.
