Property Description

Loch Ossian Youth Hostel is only accessible by rail, bike or foot. Corrour railway station (Glasgow to Fort William line) is the highest mainline railway station in the UK and the hostel is a short, approximately 20 minute walk from the station along a well-made track.

Sitting on the southern shore of Loch Ossian, this traditional but homely eco-hostel makes a perfect base for hillwalkers looking to explore the remote wilderness of Rannoch Moor.

Accommodation at the hostel is in male and female specific dorms, but groups and families have the option of booking a dorm for exclusive use. The hostel has a fully equipped self-catering kitchen, with fridge, and a small shop selling ready meals, a range of snacks, postcards and sundries. Drying is available on two overhead racks and boot stands by the fire - the perfect place to relax after a day on the hills.

Guests can now enjoy a welcome hot shower, thanks to the development of locally sourced hydro power complimenting the micro generated solar power supply. There's also electric panel heating throughout and all bed linen is provided, so no need for sleep sheets or sleeping bags. Other green initiatives include composting toilets, a reed bed grey water drainage system - and even bat-friendly paint!

Loch Ossian Youth Hostel is the perfect place to stay if you're looking to get away from it all. It has plenty of low and high level walks to choose from, including a variety of Munros and Corbetts. Popular with cyclists, star gazers, wildlife watchers, groups and families, it's a great venue for a group getaway, or a peaceful break. View House Rules

A wonderful hostel located in a perfect nature spot directly in front of Loch Ossian. The beds are comfortable, the staff was so nice and helpful, the common areas were nice - easy to meet other travellers. Just a perfect and beautiful place for all nature and hiking lovers.

A beautiful atmospheric place. Friendly and welcoming, staff and other guests alike. Distance from road access creates a special bond perhaps. Lots of bad weather around but the hostel is prepared with warmth and drying facilities.

The most perfect hostel I’ve stayed in. Remote location means you are forced to connect with other travellers and make memories. Stunning hikes for all abilities and warm and cosy cabin. Would stay again.

The location is just great. The atmosphere there is unbelivible and I strongly recomend (1) take dinner/ breakfast/ both in the Station House Corror (so sweet Restaurant/ Café) and (2) walk in the moring/ evening/... around Loch Ossian.

The Loch Ossian hostel, and nourishment from the nearby Station House, were among the highlights of our walking trip from Fort William to Aviemore (generally departing from the published East Highland Way). The hostel is in many ways a traditional hostel, with bunk rooms and comfy communal sitting/dining area/kitchen. It's beautifully situated on the banks of the loch, and its remoteness means that everyone is there to walk and cycle, giving it a great atmosphere. A great warden too!

Incredible location. Atmosphere and views is off the scale. Understandably for an off grid location the facilities are basic but fine.

A stop at the Loch Ossian Youth Hostel was a highlight and a must if you are attempting the An Torus Mor mountain bike route. The history and atmosphere in the place gives off a great buzz of energy. Arriving with some wet cycling clothes and having our clothes drying on the pullies above the open fire while we talked and drank tea was brilliant. Our hosts Jan and Alex were great and the banter in the hostel was really fun. Any trip should include a stop at this Hostel.
