Property Description

Surrounded by hills on three sides, this four star VisitScotland accredited youth hostel sits in an attractive lochside village in the north of the Isle of Arran. Close by, on a narrow peninsula extending into beautiful Loch Ranza, is the imposing ruin of a 13th century castle.

Perfect for groups, families and individual travellers, the hostel offers guests a wide range of comfortable hotel like private en-suite rooms and spacious shared accommodation, all with individual lockers and bedside lights. The excellent washroom facilities are all equipped with hairdryers. Guests can opt for a continental breakfast or take advantage of the large, well-equipped, self-catering kitchen.

Other facilities include free WiFi, a laundry and drying room and free onsite parking, as well as a secure cycle store for up to ten bikes. Guests can enjoy a glass of wine or local craft beer in one of the hostel’s two cosy lounges, one with a TV and both with excellent views over the loch. Basic provisions, confectionery and soft drinks are available to purchase at reception.

The hostel benefits from a great bus connection, with the bus stop only a five minute walk away.
Lochranza is an ideal base for tackling the many trails and ridges of the Arran mountains, including Goat F
ell, the island's highest peak. Experienced cyclists will enjoy the challenge of the circular 58 mile ride round the island but, for the less ambitious, the Cock of Arran walk offers a beautifully scenic low level trek, starting and finishing at the hostel. Arran’s only whisky distillery is a short walk away and well worth a visit.

Lochranza is a dog-friendly hostel. If you would like to book yourself and your dog into the hostel, please phone the hostel direct to check availability. There is a small charge of £5 per night for your dog when staying in our hostels.

The hostel is also available for exclusive private rental. View House Rules

This hostel could not be more perfect. The beds are more comfortable than most and the location really cannot be beat. The kitchen is immaculately clean with all equipment you might need, just be sure to shop when you get off the ferry in Brodick as there is no grocery in Lochranza. You will be greeted by friendly staff and a warm community of people looking to make the most of the daylight on beautiful Arran.

After having to hike 6.5 miles to Lochranza as there was no buses due to flooding, it was very nice to find ourselves at the beautifully located hostel. The staff were friendly and helpful and the dorm room was clean and tidy. Nothing to complain about and would recommend

lovely stay! hostel was super clean and very pleasant. only thing is felt like the breakfast price of £5.95 for continental breakfast (cereal, toast, yogurt pretty much) was a little steep.

The couple who run the hostel were extremely kind, helpful and friendly. They clearly work very hard to keep the hostel clean and welcoming. The kitchen was well-equipped. It was just a short walk from the ferry terminal, and it was a welcome surprise to find that breakfast could be ordered for the following day. Other provisions, such as Arran beer and ice cream were available. Because it is a large hostel there was not much atmosphere, but that was nothing to do with the staff.

Isolated, quiet hostel on the north of arran. Quite beautiful outside but not much to do in the area outside of hiking. Found the other people staying at the hostel to be pretty old. “Youth hostel” was not very fitting during my stay.

Had a nice stay great location.I think the duvets could be better & pillows you have to make them up when you arrive, not up to craignure bunkhouse on mull. Was not really shown around when I arrived Did not know at first there was lounge,or where to put food.Just small things really I would say could be 5 out of 5 with better duvets and a tour when you 3.5 out of 5 from me.

A little bit hard to get to and from. BEAUTIFUL location though, with some interesting walks right there. The showers were a bit inconvenient and leaked.
