Property Description

Looming Hostel is one of the first and only environmentally friendly boutique hostels in Estonia.

'Looming' in Estonian means 'Creation or artwork' - that's why everything is in constant change here.

Looming Hostel offers a new artistic style of accommodation in Tartu, close to the train station - cosy, warm and clean guestrooms are all created by different artists - everything we use for decoration is 99 % reused! We prefer natural materials, small ecological footprint, creativity and fun! We are a proud member of Estonian Social Enterprise Network.

Our guestrooms are located on the attic floor of an old art noveau building completed in the year 1910. The building is also home to a theatre venue and children's daycare center. We share inner yard with Tartu Yoga Center. In the nearby community center Aparaaditehas, there is a printing museum, art exhibitions, different restaurants, a bakery, little shops and several other businesses.

Our hostel has a kitchen for self-catering, with all the necessary equipment, free WiFi everywhere, free parking, comfy reception area for relaxing, books and games and a cozy sunterrace. We also organize different workshops, movie and talk nights monthly.

Looming is an animal-friendly hostel, so bring your pets with you!

NB! We are open from 10am to 10pm. View House Rules

I have had two stays at the Looming Hostel so far and if I'm ever going back to Tartu, I'll be sure to make it three. The hostel has a cozy atmosphere, with very creative interior features that you won't find in other bigger hostels. Also the staff is friendly, the rooms and kitchen are clean, and it's in a quiet part of town. Overall, I am very happy about my stays and definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the city!

A very clean and friendly place. Located a bit outside the centre but in a quiet and green area. Excellent kitchen and rooftop terrace. One suggestion - please have a night light and power plug next to the bunks. Otherwise it's great.

I enjoyed my stay in “Looming“. Nice and clean, you have everything you need, also well equipped kitchen. Good chill-out areas, some books to read etc. The price was good.

Super cozy, with some of the loveliest and most helpful hostel staff I've met! The "eco" part wasn't why I booked here, but gotta admit it was really nice to see less waste -- e.g. bathrooms have real towels, there is a compost bin, and kind (not annoying) notes reminding you to conserve energy. The dorm has dividers between sections, so there's more privacy than one giant room filled with rows of bunks. Dorm beds are sort of clinical-feeling though as they are made of metal.

    Very Good

The hostel was quite nice but there were no lockers for luggage in the dorms. It was about 10-15 minutes walk to downtown, which is okay but still not the best location. The staff was friendly but they took about a week to respond to my emails. Also, the hostel is on the 3rd floor with no elevator.

It's a bit out of the city, up 3 flights of stairs and a bit pricey. But it was cute and the staff are really friendly

Very little atmosphere and no organised events. Beds were extremely uncomfortable. Rooms and facilities were very clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Security lockers were not in the rooms and you had to pay a deposit to use one.

This hostel has everything you need, except atmosphere and security. When I arrived the woman at reception was quite cold and let me know they’re not using keys anymore (despite there being a wall of keys behind her...). The dorm room is nice, and the bed was comfy enough. It’s designed in such a way to give you privacy, but I found that i didn’t know who else was in the room at any time which felt unsafe. There are no lockers in the rooms at all, but if you want you can pay extra for one.
