Property Description

Lorenc GuestHouse Hostel is a family run guest house offering a choice of either twin bedrooms with private facilities or a triple bedroom with private facilities - or a combination of the bedrooms sleeping a total of 10 persons with shared facilities (wc and shower room with hot water).

The traditional Berati house is one of the oldest houses in Gorica and was built in the 17th century. Still retaining many of the authentic original architectural features which are typical of that period, the house is attractive and comfortable with beautiful views of the city.

Air conditioning is not required in this 340 year old house which is light and airy and has thick stone walls to keep you cool in summer and warm in winter.

At the rear of the property is the garden and vineyard where you can sit and enjoy some home made specialities such as cherry jam, or genuine distilled Raki as well as a 'kafe turke'. Here you can take your breakfast which is on offer at the Guest House. The friendly family welcome visitors to their home and will treat you as a family visitor rather than a tourist.

Lorenc was a wonderful host and the facilities leave nothing to be desired. The homemade wine is quite good and inexpensive, and the free breakfast and coffee is nice as well. Lorenc is a fine opera singer and very friendly. There are also a number of unusually friendly cats!

It is a really old hous with a big history and with two amazing hosts. The rooms are clean and nice. Durring oir stay in August, there was not much water in Berat, but it was fine. Lorenc is a really nice guy, you can talk with him about everything. The highlight for me was his garden, where you can drink beer, play carss or eat a fish what he and his wife prepares (delicious!!). It was an amazing stay, thank you!

This hostel was good, more of a guest house than a hostel. Nice setting and environment. Host was funny and everyone was really nice.

The guest house is an old house in the old part of town, and I thought it was so lovely. It was an experience staying there and living in an old Albanian property with an extraordinary garden! The whole environment is just so beautiful and I fell in love with Berat immediately. The host is kind and very conversational. My one complaint is that the WiFi is quite terrible. It’s good to disconnect for a while, but it is important for a traveler to access internet. Overall, recommend!

Our stay at Lorenc’s was an experience for sure! We had no lock on our door and were not allowed to use the kitchen. We were also very cold while sleeping but not allowed to keep the heater in our room during the night. However, the hostel is very conveniently located. And Lorenc and his mom are kind people who were mostly hospitable while we were there :)

Despite the lack of lockers and security we were delighted at this Hostel. Cute family house, building with history, lovely grape vines and bar out the back overlooking the city. However, we soon tired of the owner of the guesthouse. Promising to help us with our transport onwards from Berat, he didn't make any phone calls or find out anything for us. The food bought at the guesthouse was nothing special and He drank too much, singing opera very loudly into the early morning. Rude and unhelpful

The hostel was in a really beautiful building in a reasonably central location. It is very old and interesting. Sadly this is where the positives end. The following things really disappointed us: - The hostel was freezing cold - Lorenc refused to let us have a heater claiming the house would ‘set on fire’ if the radiator was on (ridiculous) - Lorenc was unpredictable, short and at times rude - The hostel has no cooking facilities or even somewhere to make a hot drink - There is no atmosphere
