Hostelworld says

Decked out in comic book theme throughout, this is one of the coolest hostels you're likely to see. And like all good Meininger hostels, its location is hard to beat. It's just 15 minutes from Grand Place and 300m from the Porte de Flandre, so it's not hard to explore the city's sights and bars from this spot. The hostel doesn't hold back on features either. The bar is the perfect place to meet fellow travellers or you can bond over games of pool or on the Wii. What's more, it's green as can be, being completely CO2 neutral.

Overview

Built in an old brewery, MEININGER Brussels City Center has a warehouse vibe with a twist. Look closer and you'll see graffiti everywhere, from tiny figures sketched on tables and floors to large comic-inspired murals on the walls. Our fun-loving design, along with our awesome social spaces, might explain why we've nailed the top spot as the Hoscars' Most Popular Hostels in Brussels every year since 2015. Update your travel diary over a drink in our lively bar, relax on our outdoor terrace, or get into some pool in our games room.

Location

You'll find us on the Canal de Charleroi, 300 metres from Porte de Flandre station and a 40-minute journey by train to Brussels Airport. Ask staff at the 24-hour reception for recommendations on the best sights to see, and they'll also give you the lowdown on the tours from our hostel. They can point you in the direction of the Grand Place, Brussels' central square, just a 15-minute walk away.

Rooms and Dorms

When you've checked in, grab your key card and head up to your room using the lift (because who likes lugging luggage up several flights?). We've got single, double and multi-bed spaces or dorms with free bedding and security lockers for a fee. Each room has its own bathroom and TV for morning-after lazing. If you go for a private room you'll get towels to rent too – so no need to pack one.

Extras and activities

We have a filling breakfast every morning for a small fee, or you can use the fully equipped kitchen – with a stove, microwave oven and kitchen utensils – to make yourself a meal. Snacks and drinks are available in the vending machines and at reception if you don't feel like cooking. You'll also find computers in the lobby if you're travelling without your tablet or laptop. Otherwise, Wi-Fi's free throughout the hostel.

This was my first time staying in a hostel and it was great! I stayed in a room with 4 beds and it was very clean, had big lockers in the room, comfy bed and plugs near the beds which was a bonus. Friendly staff and great common area to hang out and meet other travellers. Highly recommended

I love the Meininger Hotels. They have lovely people, good facilities, well planned rooms with everything one needs. Had body/hair washes and hair dryers, plugs everywhere. Great location just across the canal. Not a fan of paying for the lockers and the shower leaked a little.

In all regards, this is an amazing hostel. The rooms and bathrooms are extremely clean and comfortable to live in and the staff was really nice and efficient. The common areas are fun and the kitchen has everything you need. It's not a party hostel and it's huge so there is quite a variety of people living there but you can still meet travelers and it was a great experience.

Overall this hostel was great! The rooms were very modern and so clean but SO hot and the windows don’t open due to construction and maintenance. I didn’t spend much time in the hostel socializing as I was only there a short amount of time, but it looked like a great place to meet other travellers!

Absolutely loved it here! We stayed in a six person dorm room which was very cozy and spacious making getting ready easy as everything like the shower and sink had quite a large pod of its own for privacy. Location is a short walk from the centre with loads of pubs and restaurants near by which we visited with the kind people we stayed in the dorm with. Staff were very kind and accommodating and the hotel looked great with a lot of useful facilities like computer space and a kitchen. Loved it.

This was my first stay in a hostel, however the staff was super friendly and helpful. The facility was clean and while it took a minute to walk into the city the location was pretty great. Stayed in a 6 female dorm, first night was great , second night had a snorer in the room. Shower was spacious.

    Fabulous

Rooms and bathroom were very clean and tidy, spacious lockers & comfy matress. Nice to have a common kitchen area however lacked certain facilities that would have made it a much nicer stay eg no tea /coffee, oil and only one stove top with the four bits which meant we had dinner around 10pm as it's a huge hostel/hotel. Overall great place to stay though and location is decent enough. Takes about 20 mins easy walk to get to Grand place. Need to pay for lockers as luggage storage only for groups.

    Very Good

    04 Dec 2019
Quite a modern looking place, very clean and tidy. Enjoyed the bar area and the quirky games room. Didn't meet many people though, mixed dorm full of people trying to sleep at 9pm so was a bit weird. Also the dorm doesn't have an allocated bunk bed system, just a slot on each bed to put a card in, to say it's yours. Quite confusing process and on our first night we came back after a couple drinks to find someone in our beds, not sure what the deal was there. Think Brussels is a bit MEH.
