Was recommended mad monkeys by a friend, shame I couldn't stay longer but I will be back! Free food is a plus. Breakfast is the best I've had so far! Jamie the guy on desk was friendly and helpful on places to visit. Any issues I had just asked reception and they sorted it for me. Tv room has a PS4 and Netflix great for the rainy day I had.

Loved mad monkeys. Atmosphere is great, everyone is so friendly and it’s so easy to make friends. It’s small, but you instantly feel at home. Breakfast is included which is great for saving money and there is also a free gym pass! Kitchen is quite small and can get crowded at busier times but they offer free nachos and toasties on some days which is a great way to get to know people you’re living with. Couldn’t recommend it enough!

Kitchen area with seating to eat was quite small. Didn't cook whilst staying here as it was always so busy and there was no space to leave things in the fridge. Other than that, the dorms were fine, had lockers and were relatively quiet.

Cheap, good breakfast & free gym pass. Pretty average hostel, common areas are tiny but the price makes up for it.

Not terrible, but not amazing either. Bathrooms were a bit too small for showering with nowhere to put your stuff etc, no real common room to talk to people, small kitchen and small movie room. Right on top of Kings Cross so good location if that's the area you want to be in; very close to train station and nice walk to Hyde Park but pretty far from the beaches.

The rooms are great, but the atmosphere ruins it all. There’s so many people staying long term, and you get the feeling you’re just in the way for them. We didn’t feel welcome in the common areas, especially not the kitchen. Which by the way is too small and really crowded at all time. The location and the breakfast is the best thing about this place.

I’ve stayed at a few mad monkey hostels and they’ve always been social and clean and a great experience but this one really let the mad monkey name down. There’s really no social atmosphere or good common area space to get to know other travellers. The rooms are quite dirty, dark and depressing! I would definitely recommend spending a bit more and going somewhere else.

Rude and unwelcoming staff, horrible stay with this hostel, not one person including staff said hello to me. Actually lost out on a lot of money and paid to stay somewhere else for the the remainder of my stay. Don’t bother, worst hostel in Sydney
