Mango Hostel is a hidden gem, charming, clean and easy walking distance to the waterfront and restaurants. Phil was very helpful and gave us lots of tips on getting to Fraser Island. Thank you! Rod & Annemarie

Nice little hostel. Its more like you're staying in a guest house. The owner is a very sweet guy, though the owner and Hostel World don't communicate together. He didn't know I was checking in and it seems he didn't sign up with HW to advertise his property. I would suggest contacting the owner before your arrival. Short walk to town, the owner will give you great suggestions for restaurants. It's a very quiet hostel; after Fraser Island I was grateful for a good night sleep.

Good for a stop over after Fraser Island. The guy that runs it has a lot of information and suggested a whitsundays trip to which in the end we booked.

This hostel is good value for money and in a good location. Phil the host is passionate and knowledgeable but a little intense which can be off putting and his communication skills could be better. Because you’re in a traditional Queensland house noise travels between rooms a lot as well. Check in was a bit tricky as there was no reception and unclear how to contact Phil.

Overall, our one night stay was quite an unusual one. The owner, was a nice enough guy, but seemed very unorganised and he came across a bit full on and a bit forward. The hostel itself felt more like we were sleeping in a strangers house. The kitchen area smelled funny, our room was a little strange and quite narrow, we were not given towels and we weren't actually shown to our room, or shown any of the facilities. It is a 10 minute walk at most from the beachfront, so that was good.

The place including the room was full of mosqitos, bugs and more. The staff is very strange and most of the time quite rude in their own way. Kept on telling us how bad our further traveling plans were. We didn't feel good staying there.

Staff were weird/rude, there seems to be no security at all! All windows and doors were left open at all times, would never stay here again
