Our house has 5 luxury double rooms, 3 budget ensuite private rooms, 3 private rooms without ensuite and 5 dorm rooms all with 6 beds. All our rooms have air-conditioning and ceiling fans. Our double rooms come with soap, shampoo and conditioner. The dorm beds have thick mattresses and our showers are serviced by gas heated hot water for better pressure and no dodgy wiring!

Been to 4 hostels in Rio, this one beats the lot by far. The area is safe, close to the beach. The staff are a great bunch and pretty good vibes for the most part. Great facilities and beds. Felt most comfortable there when I was Rio by a mile.

Chill hostel, friendly atmosphere, and great staff that speaks multiple languages. It's a mid to smaller hostel with a bohemian vibe. So it is not spotless, but far from the dirtiest place I have ever stayed. It's a hostel in South America, it is what it is. The common area layout was good for hanging out, meeting people, and making new friends. I met a lot of cool people from all over the world. I would stay again.

It was a really good hostel the staff were nice and spoke several languages which was good. But the most important was that the security was one of the best from the hostels I've been at

Mango Tree Hostel was the perfect place to stay when visiting Brazil for the first time. The staff is amazing and the outdoor common area is terrific to connect with other travelers. Every night, groups would form to explore Rio's nightlife together. The wifi worked great and the hostel is in a very safe area where you can also walk around at night. Ubers are cheap to get around and the metro is just a few blocks away. The hostel is close to the beach, main shopping street, & great restaurants!

    Fabulous

Fantastic location, 1 block away from the beach and in the heart of Ipanema. The bed was very comfy and the shower was probably the best I’ve had travelling. Only issue was the room was very damp and the only window opened onto the bar area. Also the kitchen closes very early so inconvenient if you want to cook.

This place is the perfect place to stay in rio. Close to the beach, great atmosphere and the most important- a place to relax in every hour (a lot of hostels closing common areas at night). The staff is super friendly and helpful. 2 cons though- the kitchen is close pretty early but still have refrigerator and microwave. And at my last night the staff claimed that there is no more space so the price to my room was 108 but I saw they had a lot of space and eventually my room was empty

    Very Good

Great people but the dorm room I was in smelled awful. It appeared clean but I think the moisture in the old building ay be causing mold or something. An even worse smell, like chemicals and sewer, was coming from the bathroom and filled the bedroom. They charged extra for a blanket which seems ridiculous. I've never been to a hostel where the cost of the bed doesn't include basic bedding. Also the kitchen is closed at 5 - way too early if you actually plan to cook your own meals in the evening.

    Good

Lovely hostel but unfortunately the room I stayed in was really cramped, it was a 6 person room but there wasn’t enough space for 6 people to stand up in the room. It should have just been a 4 person room. We also had to walk through another room to get to ours. You have to pay R$5 for a blanket for your bed even though the rooms aren’t warm. The bar isn’t open most nights and you can only use the kitchen until 5pm.

We had a lot of problems with the room. The staff was unpleasant and treated us disparagingly. We left there earlier than we expected because of the attitude of the staff. not recommended
