Overview

A stay at Milhouse Hostel Hipo is guaranteed to get you into the fun spirit of buzzing Buenos Aires! You'll be staying in an atmospheric 19th-century colonial-style building with a funky layout and balconies looking over our pretty courtyard. Chill out here with your mates, then head up to our lively bar to take your pick from our list of popular cocktails and dance till dawn – tango, anyone? Our rooftop terrace is the place we all gather ahead of a big night out with a barbecue, or for one of our legendary parties. It's the perfect spot for getting to know your fellow travellers.

Location

We're right in the centre of town, just off the busy Avenida 9 de Julio which has loads of bars and places to eat. The easiest way to reach us from Ministro Pistarini International Airport is to take a taxi – it's a 40-minute drive. Arriving into Retiro Bus Station? Jump on the 70, 100A/B/C bus for 18 minutes to Metrobus Estación Perón and we're 6 minutes around the corner. From the hostel, you can walk to the 70m-tall Obelisk, the Cathedral Metropolitana or the Museo del Bicentenario.

Rooms and Dorms

Our dorms are a great way to make new travelling buddies. They have lockers for backpacks and many have air con and en-suites – there's a female-only dorm, too. You can opt for a private room for a bit more space, a bathroom of your own and free towels.

Extras and activities

Join our super-friendly staff on trips around the city on foot or by bike, and let us introduce you to Argentinian life – with edge-of-your-seat football matches or the hottest tickets to the city's most exclusive nightclubs. For a spot of downtime, play pool in the games room or crash in front of the big screen in our TV and DVD lounge. There's also free Wi-Fi, a handy elevator and a luggage room.

Amazing hostel, probably the best I’ve ever stayed in. Party hostel so great for meeting people as a solo traveller, but the rooms are far enough from the bar that the noise isn’t a problem. Regular activities during the day and with a different party each night. Parties are combined with the sister hostel a short walk away so usually a good crowd. I’d recommend Hipo over avenue. Great staff with a special shout out to Mica for helping organise tours for me at the last minute

Fantastic hostel! We finished up here as a part of a group tour and extended our stay for the last night in BA. Always lots of things to do, tours (slightly more than if you did them yourself) and party nights between the two hostels. The room itself was clean, comfy beds, nice showers! Lovely staff. Overall, very happy with the stay.

This place is the absolute best to party in Buenos Aires! I had a blast every single night. Great to meet people as well. Location is pretty good and the place is clean. Service was slow at times but the majority of the staff was awesome!

Good hostel if you want to party but for general socialising, there are better, cheaper hostels around. Very clean though!

Overly big. Making profit has taken over having a good hostel. Drinks are a lot more expensive than in the street. Forced fun rather than natural fun. I think this place used to be really good but has taken a nose dive. All the staff and volunteers are nice there.

I’ve stayed here a few times and can’t understand the good reviews. The place is so huge it’s impossible to meet anyone and the main common space is the reception and bar which makes it even harder to socialise. The parties each night feel like a year 6 disco, music is loud and it’s dark so there’s no chance to meet and chat to people. Not the hostels fault, but each time I stayed there were far more male guests hitting on all the girls which was really unpleasant. Worst hostel I’ve ever been to

Regretted booking this for 4 nights. The atmosphere is terrible. From noon every day you can't even sit in the common room to chat to people or read a book. They start playing parry music at top volume to try and encourage people to start drinking. It gets to the point that you can't speak to anyone and everyone gradually starts drinking in a dreary atmosphere. Facilities are fine but it has the worst forced party scene of any hostel I've been in. Everything revolved paying them more money.

This place is awful if you are a solo traveller, un sociable and hard to make friends, people weren’t friendly and also got painful bed bug bites from staying here for a few days. Would not recommend!!

Milhouse Hostel Hipo says

I think our most unique feature is the combination of our funky and modern decoration with our French colonial-style house with an atrium in the centre. It's great for socialising. In fact, we have parties three or four times a week and we pride ourselves on combining a fun atmosphere with great clean facilities.
We're located right in the heart of the city centre, surrounded by subway stations, museums, nightclubs and bars and near the Obelisco. Personally I recommend checking out Caminito Street in the La Boca neighbourhood.
For fun our guests check out our parties, live music shows, the Milhouse Olympics, walking tours, football games, concerts and nightclubs. Most of our guests are backpackers aged between 20 and 35, looking for parties and organised entertainment. Melina, Owner
