Incredible! The Mountain Hostel is a must if you are staying in the Jungfrau Region. Staff was very friendly, and the environment was second to none. Can't beat waking up in the mountains after a comfortable nights sleep. I'd be hard pressed to find another hostel with such an amazing location .

Out of our entire 3 week trip, this was the most gorgeous place we stayed. The hostel has a massive kitchen which I cooked in a few times. The showers were nice and the beds were so comfy! The people we stayed with were amazing too. But the honestly Roman, the host, was amazing, he is very funny and will know anything that you might have questions about. He also made breakfast every morning. This hostel comes equipped with stunning views and a cat named shadow. 10/10 would stay again.

For some people, hostels are generally chosen over hotels for their price and atmosphere. The ability to meet new people and become immersed in a small community, even if for only a day, is what makes the hostel experience worth it. At Mountain Hostel, this community experience was unlike anything I’ve seen in any other hostel. I felt like I was simply joining in on a group of friends who were all just passing time together.

I had SUCH an amazing time at this hostel, the views you get even just from your window is incredible. Easily accessible by cable car, from Lauterbrunnen. There aren't any lockers here but I felt safe about leaving my belongings. Murren is a short cable car away so there's a supermarket nearby, it's really convenient! The staff are also top notch, and my only regret is not staying longer. One night was definitely not enough. I would definitely recommend this hostel and would stay here again!

This hostel was the last hostel we stayed at during our month long trip. It was, by far, the best value and location of any hostel we stayed at. The facilities may not have been as nice as others in crowded cities, but I understand the reason. Just a few tips, make sure to have coins for the showers and get your groceries while your out during the day. The staff is very friendly and more than willing to offer advice. Overall, I would love to visit again.

Pros: mountain views, breakfast/coffee included, access to kitchen, social atmosphere (good for solo travellers) Cons: far from grocery store, mattress was rly thin, check-in times were wrong on info sheet which was a bit annoying, showers were 1 Swiss franc for 8 mins of water although mine only ran for about 5 before timing out and leaving me soapy. Good thing I has one Swiss franc left in my bag otherwise I’d be wiping the soap away with my towel! If I went back, I’d stay in Mürren.

I loved my stay here, but I was slightly disappointed. My stay was during the last few days of their summer opening period (they close at the end of summer to have a break before the winter/ski season, was not mentioned during booking) so there were very few people staying at the hostel, and nobody under 25. The amazing, unforgettable social atmosphere that everyone raves about was something I missed out on unfortunately, and paying regular summer prices I expected more than what I got.

    Very Good

Gimmelwald exceeded all of my expectations! This hostel is in prime real estate, the beds were cozy, the breakfast was delicious and overall it was tidy. I did however have a few critiques. Firstly, the hours are sporadic and random for the bar. The first night my friends and I were ordering beers all night until 11 and the next night they had the bar area closed at 9 for a staff dinner. One of the gentlemen also didn’t know how to use the card machine. Overall the staff weren’t great.
