If someone talks about Hampi now, the first thing will remind of is “Murali Homestay”. This place isn’t the regular place like we stay, this place is one of its kind where Murali’s family is so welcoming. I was a solo traveller to Hampi and Murali’s family was so helpful in taking me places, feeding me with good food and good stay. They treated me like their own family member. Bhavani Aunty and RangaRao Uncle took care of me so well. The stay, food and landscape is really beautiful.

Murali was very friendly and helpful when I arrived and also picked me up from the ferry crossing. I rented a scooter from the guest house and was able to get my laundry done very quickly. The room was basic but Murali arranged Wifi and the bed was huge! The guest house is in a quiet location and a good place to chill out after a long day exploring Hampi. There are small shops close by for snacks/ water etc. A few minutes by moped gets you to all of the main restaraunts etc. I’d stay here again!

One of the finest places for a back packer to stay in Hampi. The hospitality is simply amazing. Murali’s mom is very helpful. They treat you as their own family. Uncle also helped me a lot. The aloo curry prepared by aunty is a special mention. Its a 15 mins walk from river point, but still its worth it. I was given a map with all the directions and important places to see there. Met a wonderful guy Arturo from Mexico.Thank you aunty for such a wonderful hospitality. Will be back again soon.

Such a warm welcome to Hampi. Felt like I was a part of the family. Bhavani is a wonderful cook and cared deeply about my comfort. Murali is a kind and joyful person who is easy to connect with. Gorgeous view from the deck, and located away from the busy street which makes for a tranquil environment.

I was motored to their remote homestay by Murali on his motorcycle to my intended overnight close to his parents. Unfortunately, it was up a rather steep hill and I simply was unable to drag my weary body all the way up. We went to a second site, but it, too, was a challenge for me across a spindly bridge. The lack of WiFi ensured it would be TOO quiet/isolated for me. Murali was extremely gracious in letting me out of the contract. Staying there would probably have been great.

The owner had no idea about my booking which was done almost like a week in advance since I was on scheduled bike trip. When I reached the location I was told but with a caution that currently I am been put up at a different location as the place I booked was already over booked but if someone comes in the morning than I have to vacate in the morning n would be shifted to other location. In the morning at 7 PPL started banging the door asking me to vacate the place which I was hesitant.

No WIFI or phone signal here so it was my mistake that I couldn’t check online that I paid for 4 nights and only stayed for 3. Worse, we had to pay extra on our final day to keep our bags there. She pressured us to book her scooter even though we already found a cheaper one. She kept offering us tea as a nice gesture then charged us. She told us Hampi cafes are dirty so we must eat at hers. The plumbing backed up and another woman’s poo ended up all over our bathroom. I felt like she conned us.

Don't stay here, if you plan to travel in Hampi. It's too far from tourist places and you have to cross the river to reach this difficult location of hostel
