Property Description

The house was built in circa 1913 and operated as one of the earliest guesthouses in Katoomba, and retains many original features. It has been lovingly restored over the years and improved with ducted central heating, new kitchen and bathrooms and free WiFi.

No.14 Lovel St is a warm friendly place to come home to after a day exploring rugged cliffs, rainforests or waterfalls or a day spent sampling the great food, cafes and art galleries in the Blue Mountains. Come home and jump in a hot shower to relax those tired muscles or chill out on the beautiful verandah and deck area.

We are definitely not a party house. If you want to stay up late into the night, then this is not the hostel for you. Quiet hours are from 10pm to 7am. There are no TVs or music etc on purpose. Please bring ear/headphones to enjoy your own content.

Rooms include 3 queen rooms, 4 double rooms, 1 king single twin and 2x5 bed dorms using the large share bathroom. We also have one ensuite room which has a queen + single beds and its own shower/toilet ensuite. Your room price includes breakfast (cereal/ tea/coffee). There is a full kitchen with individual storage for you to cook up anything else you'd like.

Our staff are locals who love the area and can give you lots of help to find just what you need for a great time in the Mountains. View House Rules

The perfect accompaniment for a mountain retreat. Classy, cosy, comfortable and clean. Easy walking to the station, Leura and Katoomba as well as the touristy walking spots.

One of the best hostels I ever stayed in, as for the facilities, there was everything I would expect to need after a day of hiking. Kim, the manager, was extremely helpful and suggested tracks I could do given the amount of time I had and explained all details I needed to know. I appreciate many small details I could find in the hostel that show you the passion of the managers for the area they live in. Overall, it really felt like being at travelers' home compared to popular hostel chains.

I loved my stay here! It was such a nice break from Sydney. If you reserve your own room it feels like a quaint cabin. I had a VERY hard time leaving my room. I just wanted to snuggle and read a book. I enjoyed the free coffee and cereal, although I wish they had more free breakfast items. The hostel is close to town/train station but a 45? minute walk to Echo Point/Three Sisters. It was rainy most of our stay but we still enjoyed it. I would stay again.

I booked 3 beds in a 5 bed dorm. We needed a place to stay the night before an overnight camping trip. We arrived after hours and the place was very quiet. Easy entry using the code provide in a key box by the front door. Common rooms were still available to use at this time (need to be quiet). In the morning, we could see the place properly. It was loaded with history and info on the area, common room was comfortable, bathrooms very cold (slate floor), but clean. Overall a great little place.

Close to train station, and has a tranquil outside seating area. Nice ladies work here. facilities are fine. Downside, the duvet covers in dormitories don't get changed after each guest leaves. First 2 nights, I was bitten by something in the dorm bed, but was ok when I changed to another bunk. Small lockers. Guests often stayed in their rooms, so limited sociability. Despite peaceful environment, it was noticeable that you were staying in the owner's house, who also lives on the premises.
