Lovely, traditional Japanese place...a great place to stay, chill out with a book, socialise around the Kotatsu and let your mind wander while appreciating the garden. Out of the city but 5 minutes from the local train station so easy to use as a base

Such a wonderful place to stay! It is very traditional as it is the oldest guesthouse in the area. There is so much history here and being able to make your own traditional tatami coasters is such a fun experience. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in such an incredible space.

If you're looking to stay in a traditional style place near Okayama, this is a great choice. The staff were very friendly and the place was very clean and quiet. It was very beautiful to stay in. The station is a short walk, but just make sure you know when the train is coming or you could be waiting a while. Keep in mind, you are essentially sleeping on the floor, so maybe not recommend if you have back problems, etc. Otherwise, it's a great experience, and I would recommend it.

Thank you so much to the staff for a brilliant stay! I made some great friends here due to the shared rooms and few people staying at the time! The whole atmosphere here is so welcoming and the very Japanese traditional style of the place is beautiful! Breakfast was great and all the futon beds are the comfiest I've had on the trip so far!

What a beautiful hostel! The best thing about this hostel was the absolutely beautiful garden and building, and the traditional tatami-style rooms. I recommend having your morning coffee/tea by the window and just taking it in. Staff is friendly and helpful, location is close to the trains although trains don't run too often depending on time of day and the area around the train station is pretty residential. Definitely would stay here again, wish I had been able to stay longer!

Excellent Guesthouse with a lovely traditional-Japanese feel. The gardens were beautiful Comfortable futon beds with plenty of blankets to stay warm and electric heating throughout. The traditional breakfast was worth the money with locally-made pickles and ingredients with free refills. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating, offering advice on local amenities and day trips outside the area. Walking distance to the local JR train station. Recommending to everyone!
