Here at Oporto Invictus Hostel, we’re known for the laid-back, welcoming atmosphere in our restored 150-year-old building. We’ve got a lounge and bar where you can have a drink and listen to some tunes, and our cinema area has plenty of DVDs to choose from for a chill-out session. Most of our rooms feature unique murals and artworks (we've got free Wi-Fi so you can snap and share your faves with friends back home), and we pride ourselves on being environmentally friendly and powered by solar energy. Wake up for a free breakfast each morning before heading out to bask in the Portuguese sunshine.

Location

We’re right in the centre of Porto, so there are loads of shops, bars and restaurants nearby. Hostel owners Nuno and Filipe are always happy to recommend secret local spots for you. Porto Cathedral, the famous tower of Clérigos Church and the incredible art nouveau bookshop of Livraria Lello are all within 15 minutes on foot. To get here from Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport, take the metro to Trindade station and walk to us in about 5 minutes. The whole journey takes around 50 minutes.

Rooms and Dorms

Our shared and female-only dorms have comfy beds and great views through the large windows of the bustling streets below. Linen is included with all bookings and you'll get towels too if you go for a private room. All of our accommodation is clean, modern and spacious, with plenty of room for your backpack.

Extras and activities

We’ve got a friendly 24-hour reception team ready to help you explore the city and we like to join the fun with free walking tours and pub crawls to get you started. You can pick up a free city map on your way out (it'll help save on data) and we’ll set you up with bike hire if you want to head out on two wheels. We’ve got handy safety deposit boxes for you to use if you'd rather leave valuables with us while you roam.

Absolute nicest and most helpful staff ever! They took their time to explain the city and give us a quick run down of all the good restaurants nearby. Also had super clean rooms and bathrooms.

We stayed in a private double room for 1 night after spending 3 nights at another hostel; we wished we had spent our whole stay here in Porto! Beds comfortable, shower good, staff lovely, good atmosphere in the hostel and cool common areas. Fantastic location - check out O Burrito, a really nommy vegan place up the street - but go early for breakfast or lunch, because they sell out! The only thing we missed was a lock for the door, but we did have a 'do not disturb' sign. We loved this hostel!

O lugar é uma graça, próximo do centro de Porto. É possível fazer tudo a pé do hostel. Realmente bem localizado. Os staffs são muito simpáticos e prestativos. Além disso, toquei violão com eles. O local é limpo, organizado e tranquilo. Além disso, o café da manhã me impressionou pela qualidade, embora tenha sido simples, tinha pães saborosos.

This hostel was the best hostel I stayed in Porto so far. The owner and the staffs are really friendly and they make you feel like you are at home. Everything was pretty good to me so far. I was sad that it was booked out when I decided to stay longer. I highly recommend this hostel.

Pros: free breakfast, spacious rooms and bathrooms. Great shower! Cons: thin mattress, hilly and far from everything & im guessing in a higher profile area bc all the restaurants nearby were supa outta budget for a backpacker.

The hostel has a pretty good ambience. The staff is very friendly. Just had two issues, the furniture in the room was not upto the level of what we are paying. And the breakfast was below average than what is provided in other hostels. Location is very good though

I would have given a lower rating. The kitchen and rooms looked nice and spacious, but I felt that the 12 dorm room definitely needs aircon. I was lucky to be staying when it wasn't too hot, but the room would be hot/ humid by the time I woke up (and corridor smells of cigarettes?). The staff were nice, but as a solo traveller this place was boring. There were no events whatsoever, and the nice living room wasn't really put to use. I'd suggest not to go here as a young, sociable solo traveller.
