Hostelworld says

PLUS Berlin is in an ideal location for those looking to explore Berlin's culture on foot; it's set near the East Side Gallery and just between the nightlife, shopping and art districts of Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg. Hostelworld guests say the rooms are 'spotless, warm and cleaned every day with fresh towels' and that 'this place offer great value for money - and is more like a hotel than a hostel'. We like that this hostel has a swimming pool, sauna and garden.

Property Description

PLUS Berlin is Berlin's über-cool new hostel/hotel, with a free welcome shot for all Hostelworld guests.

You want prime location? Check. We're in Friedrichshain, possibly the most happening area of Berlin - a neighbourhood filled with arty cafés, bars and one-off shops selling vintage clothing, music and all sorts of paraphernalia.

You want comfort and facilities? Check. Choose from our two-, four- or six-bed dorms, all ensuite and all with free Wi-Fi. And for those wanting a little more luxury, why not upgrade to a private hotel room.

You want more? OK, well there's our stunning Opera Bar and Restaurant, our swimming pool and sauna, our beautiful Laundromat, and last but by no means least, our tranquil inner courtyard garden oasis.

You want history? Check. Our building used to be a school for fashion design, was declared a Berlin Monument and has survived two World Wars and 40 years of communism. Not only is our newly refurbished 100 year neo-gothic building a wonder to behold, we also have the longest surviving stretch of the former Berlin Wall just around the corner.

You want local amenities? Check. The River Spree, with its bizarre man-made sandy beaches (yes beaches!) and tiki bars, is less than five minutes' walk away, as is the new spaceship-like Mercedes Benz concert arena. Oh, and Berlin's largest and most famous nightclubs are just a short walk or a couple of subway stations away.

You want advice? Check. Our drop-dead gorgeous, international, multi-lingual staff are on hand 24 hours a day to help with info, maps, tips, trips and sips. Just ask - we're easy to get along with.

You want to find us easily? Check. We're at a huge transport hub, with S-Bahn, U-Bahn and tram stops less than five minutes from the front door.

So, when are you checking in?

Check out our other great locations across Europe: PLUS Florence, PLUS Prague, PLUS Camping Roma and PLUS Camping Jolly in Venice.

Check in at 3:00pm if you arrive before you will be able to leave the luggage with us.

Please note that there is a new tourism tax that will be in effect as of 1/1/14.
The tax is 5% of your total stay and will be added to your balance. The tax will only be added to bookings made on or after 1/1/14 and will not affect those made beforehand.
Sorry for any inconvenience caused, this decision was not made by the hostel.

Important: Any bookings of 8 people or more fall under our “group” policy. View House Rules

PLUS Berlin's 100-year-old neo-Gothic building itself is worth the visit – not to mention the free welcome shot. But for a real taste of luxury, come and check it out for the indoor pool and sauna! Our hostel's decked out in a swish and stylish décor, making it feel as chic as the hip neighbourhood we're based in. Our on-site Opera Bar and Restaurant is a great place to make new buddies – and the tranquil courtyard garden is the perfect spot to relax.

Friedrichshain is one of Berlin’s most lively and interesting neighbourhoods. It's filled with arty cafés, cool bars and quirky shops. Even the Warschauer Straße train station, just 10 minutes' walk from the hostel, is vibrant and bustling – you'll find plenty of cheerful buskers and cheap pop-up beer stores during the summer. Check out the renowned East Side Gallery, two minutes away, or the longest surviving stretch of Berlin Wall just around the corner. With a choice of metro and tram stops nearby, getting to the historic city centre is straightforward too.

Rooms and Dorms

The high ceilings, large windows and unique furnishings in our modern guest rooms give them a boutique feel. All of our private rooms and dorms (mixed or female-only) have en-suite bathrooms, as well as large lockers and work desks. Wi-Fi and linen are included in the price too. Upgrade to a private room and you'll even get a flat-screen TV and air conditioning, because there's nothing like some home comforts after a long-haul flight.

Extras and activities

When you’re not hanging out in the sociable kitchen, laidback TV lounge or tournament-friendly games room, our 24-hour reception is the place to be. Pick up free maps, use the desktop PCs, rent bicycles or sign up for a free tour. Don't forget to get involved with our ever-popular volleyball, yoga and pub crawl events – they’re the best ice-breakers around!

Very nice hostel, wonderful facilities and staff. Feels like it has an identity crisis since it’s more like a hotel than hostel. The room was clean, but had a bed bug in my bed. Bound to happen occasionally with 800 beds in the hostel (spacious rooms though, all with an en-suite). Fortunately it was very minor, and staff handled the situation perfectly with excellent customer service. Would not hesitate in coming back.

Really nice hostel. Nice atmosphere and great staff. Only problems were the pool not being clean and lack of plug sockets / working plug sockets in the rooms.

Good place, very hot in the rooms however and the only way to combat it is open a window and you are then at risk of listening to the club go all night across the street. Otherwise, the East Side Gallery is right around the corner, the train stop too. Cheap food for good eating in the area w/ a grocery store down the road as well. If you use the laundromat make sure you bring your own soap or ask the front desk.

Overall a good hostel. No aircon in the room meant it was stuffy and hot inside. The staff at reception were helpful but not very informative, weren’t informed on basic facilities etc. Food at restaurant was good. Super close to east side gallery, about 20mins on train to Mitte, and most attractions in Berlin.

The windows in our room didn’t lock or even shut and as we were on the ground floor this was concerning, there was no where to lock away valuables which meant that all valuables had to be taken out with us due to our insecure window. Music was allowed to be blasted by other guests until 4am. The pool was dirty and kids were allowed to take over the pool meaning it was not a relaxing experience.

PLUS Berlin says

I think our facilities are pretty much unrivalled in Berlin - after all, how many can say that their hostel in Berlin had a pool and sauna? - but our amazing staff definitely help make the hostel even better.
Everything is close by, whether it's the East Side Gallery (the longest remaining part of the Berlin Wall), just 200 metres away, or the trendy areas of Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain where you can hit the bars and check out Berlin's famous nightlife. People should visit the East Side Gallery for sure. It's an amazing part of history which is now a modern masterpiece.
We have all types of travellers staying with us, whether it be someone for business during the week or a couple looking for a weekend getaway or backpackers travelling long term. We also cater for those with disabilities, with custom rooms as well as facilities such as elevators and ramps. Morgan, Manager
