Property Description

Pachamaya Eco Lodge is a beautiful eco lodge located 5-10 minutes walking from the national park Semuc Champey, we have a number of common areas such as hammock areas to relax after an adventure-packed day. We also offer a variety of tours and excursions.

We are located riverside on the Cahabon river, which changes colour and depth almost everyday. This place is suitable for people who want to just relax, but also it is suited to people who want to have adventures too.
The rooms are beautifully designed, the private rooms have outside balcony/deck areas while the dorms enjoy an outside patio area. We have designed the lodge thinking about the colours and structures of nature, trying to work with nature to make a beautiful place, inspired by the beauty around the lodge.
Our restaurant offers a variety of food (international and local) and drinks. We offer tours to Semuc Champey, the water caves and water-tubing. Above all, most of our staff are local and directly from the area, with only a handful of international staff to help with language barriers. Great hostel at a great price. They kept the dance music bumping till 10, even though almost all of their patrons were trying to sleep. But other than that, the location is amazing.

Great, happy, secluded place to stay. Blacky was an awesome host!! Great location on the river. Good food but like other reviews say, takes a while (25-40min). There was no internet for the 3 nights I was there but that was not a bother at all. It was the perfect place to simply chill. Reasonable prices but they didn't always have ice. Beers on bridge half the price (10Q) & cold! Loved it all, incl tubing down the river & cave trip. Bumpy ride in but worth every bruise! Would def stay again!

It was a pleasant stay here overall. The location is perfect if you want to walk to Semuc Champay and visit without a tour. Lounging by the river was quite enjoyable. Staff was friendly but there were a couple of hiccups along the way. Upon arrival, myself and two others needed to wait about an hour in Lanquin before we boarded a random collectivo to the hostel. Also, the food service is painfully slow. I once waited 90 minutes for a bowl of soup. A little more coordination would be nice.

This hostel is located 10 mins walk from Semuc champey. Shuttle collects you from Lanquin and it’s a bumpy 40 min ride to the hostel. If you booked an onward shuttle with them they drop you back down to the town when you are moving on. Menu has some good fair option, the veggie soup for 25Q is hearty! Most other meals are about 40Q. The facilities are basic but fine and wifi is non existent but remember where you are! To be fair most people only stay 2 nights. Would stay again.

Next to Semuc Champey with nothing much else around so you’re a bit secluded, but Semuc is why I came to the area so I loved it. Facilities are clean for what you’d expect. There are lots of insects so if you can’t handle that, maybe not for you. No kitchen so you have to buy food at the restaurant. They were accommodating to give plate/knife/bowl for your own snacks though. Very easy to meet other travelers. Only complaint is some staff not very professional. Also wifi was very spotty.

    Very Good

Pachamaya was great considering how cheap it is. The location is perfect as you only have to walk 5 minutes to get to Semuc Champey. They didn't have any drinking water when I arrived at night which was a little disappointing, and the burrito I ordered for lunch was not very good and cost almost as much as my accommodation itself. SO again, it is fitting for the cheap price and I would stay there again. I recommend bringing your own water and eating somewhere else.

It breaks my heart how the horses were treated. A nice place but it seem undone and the staff could be more involved.

Rented a private room with an en-suite,when we arrived they said there was bed bugs in the private room, so they gave us a bunk room to ourselves but told us we would have to used a shared bath. They did give us a lower rate, but the bathrooms were pretty gross and we still got bed bugs!!!! Also, the water stopped working in the bathrooms at one point, but they got it fixed pretty quickly. The showers are ice cold, no hot water. No electrical outlets in the rooms. Drinks are good, food is bad.

No stable wifi and no cellular reception at all, plus it’s remotes from lanquin so for every drive out of the hostel they gonna charge you 40Q even if you leave to a shuttle that wasn’t booked with the hostel. It’s very close to the reserve and they offer a nice and relatively cheap tour.

This place is extremely basic, in fact, one could say unfinished, hostel. Don't stay here if you want anything more than you are paying for. The staff are somewhat indifferent and the food served at the restaurant, while tasty, is extremely slow - expect to wait at least 30 minutes for anything to be served. The plus side is its proximity to the pools of semuc champey and the areas to relax by the river, but other than that, it doesn't offer much.
