Hostelworld says

If you're looking for privacy during your stay in Budapest, Pal's Hostel is a great place to start from. This hostel offers comfortable private rooms and spacious apartments with beautiful views across the road to Szent Istvan's Basilica. It's located very near the Chain Bridge and the intersection of all three metro lines so it's easy to get anywhere in the city. Hostelworld guests have said 'it's like having a piece of your own home in another city' and they'd 'definitely recommend this hostel for those who want to spend their night in a quiet apartment and in a very central area'.

Property Description

We’re not your average hostel, indeed, but rather a chain of apartments and dorms located in the very centre of Budapest around St. Stephen's Basilica. If you fancy some privacy and want to stay in a place that feels just like home, come to Pal's Hostel and enjoy your very own apartment in Budapest! As well as private apartments, we also offer private rooms with shared bathrooms, and even shared dorms!

Pal's Hostel started at small and humble beginnings - we earned our place on the map by winning Hoscar of 'Best Hostel in Hungary 2013', '1st Country winner in Hungary 2014' and a nomination for 'Worldwide small hostel 2014', and since then we have grown into a greatly respected and popular hostel, even being awarded '10th Best Large Hostel Worldwide 2018' :)

Pal's Hostel is located in the very centre of downtown. From here you can easily get to most of the sights on foot, such as Saint Stephen's Basilica, The Chain Bridge, Parliament, Andrassy Avenue (part of the World Heritage), the Opera House, the Great Synagogue, the National Museum, Vaci Street, and Vorosmarty Square. The Danube bank is only a five minute walk away too! Nearby there are also many restaurants, cafes, pubs, clubs, and party places all within walking distance, like Akvarium Club, Anker Club, Castro Bistro, Szimpla Pub and Katapult. We are also located very close to Deak Ferenc Square, which is the main junction for all underground metro trains in Budapest.

Other important sightseeing spots are near by too, such as Buda Castle (part of the World Heritage, along with the Fisherman's Bastion, Matthias Church and the National Gallery), as well as Heroes' Square, the City Park and the baths (Szechenyi, Gellert, Rudas). You can walk to these places from our hostel in 20-30 minutes.

Each day of the week we have a different activity or event on offer to our guests! Check out our activity board in reception to see what's going on! The current activity schedule is as follows :)
Monday - Family Dinner
Wednesday - Pub Quiz
Thursday - Goulash Soup and Palinka Tasting
Friday - Family Dinner + Drinking Jenga
Saturday - Family Dinner + Beer Pong
Sunday - Movie Night

Here at Pal's we are happy to be at your assistance; you can print your e-ticket, buy tickets for the Szechenyi baths, Gellert baths or even the caving tour. We also sell the Budapest Card. We have great local knowledge and advice on the best spots in town to share with you! We can also help you get to Ozora Festival, Sziget Festival or Balaton Sound!

We can even pick you up at the airport for €24 for 1-4 people; this means if there’s four of you it’s only €6 per person. Public transport is about €2.50 per person. Our contact information will be in your booking confirmation email.

Please note that our rooms called 'Basic Double Bed Private (Shared Bathroom)' are literally with double beds, not two single beds.
Please also note that we have no elevator for the rooms with shared bathrooms (but they’re only on the 1st and 2nd floors:)).
Also, we have no A/C:( View House Rules

Overview

A real home away from home, Pal's Hostel is a bit different from your everyday backpacker accommodation. We're actually more like a group of apartments and dorms spread across a few buildings in the heart of Budapest. So you'll get lots of your own space plus plenty of chances to meet people, with free events here every night! Think family-style dinners, pub quizzes and Sunday night movies marathons. We're all about bringing people together – just check the board in reception to find out what's going on!

Location

Our buildings are straight across the road from St Stephen's Basilica, right in the centre of Budapest. Three metro lines – M1, M2 and M3 – meet at Deák Ferenc tér station, a 4-minute walk away, so it's easy to get around the city. Not that you'll need to go far – most of the main attractions are a short stroll away. It takes less than 40 minutes to reach us from Budapest Airport: just take the 100E shuttle bus to Deák Ferenc tér. If you're coming from Budapest Keleti train station, hop on the M2 metro and you'll be with us in 12 minutes.

Rooms and Dorms

Staying in one of our private rooms or apartments will leave you feeling like a real Budapest local – though our spacious mixed dorm rooms are inside their own apartments too. They've got single beds instead of bunks, and everyone gets their own socket and reading light, as well as a private locker. There's also a sitting area where you can get to know your new roommates, plus an en-suite bathroom – and of course the bed linen's free.

Extras and activities

We're always happy to book you onto private tours, and can sell you a Budapest Card if you want discounted entry to the main attractions in this awesome city. If you're interrailing and you need a bit of downtime after a long journey, head into our common area – you'll find friendly faces, board games and foosball!

We visited Budapest over the weekend as a short city break and stayed in a private room. The room was amazing with great views of the city. It was right in the middle of Pest and everything was in walking distance including links to and from the airport. The staff were really friendly and happy to help if you needed anything. Would definitely stay again.

Our apartment was out of this world, loads of space, fridge, cooker, beautiful shower and comfy beds. Excellent security and everything was spotless. 2 people for 4 nights was 120 euro. Unbeatable !

Great location and apartment in the heart of Budapest. My friend and I stayed for three nights in one of the shared apartment houses and it was awesome. The building itself is really worth staying for. Go for it if you're together and able to share the apartment. Bit pricy compared to the Budapest standard but you get what you are paying for so it's great.

    Fabulous

This was a great place to stay! The view was incredible and there’s so much around. The apartments thing was actually so nice, beds were nice, and the bathroom had a bathtub! Not a social hostel or a party hostel. The common area was nice and the balcony overlooking the church and square was unbeatable. Overall it was extremely pleasant.

    Very Good

    13 Feb 2020
Close to everything but no social atmosphere. WiFi was good, kitchen was adequate but they don’t provide any oil to cook with and since it’s all individual apartments there is no leftover food area. Shower was hot but sucked because they have attached it to middle of wall in bathtub so when pointing straight water would get all over the floor. Staff was quick to fix heating problem and give recommendations so that was good. Failed to meet the higher expectation since it is rated so highly.

Pal's Hostel says

I think that what people really appreciate about our place is that we have accommodation to suit everyone, from dorm beds to luxury apartments, in one of the most beautiful and practical locations in Budapest. With our chain of apartments surrounding St Stephen\'s square, we're only a short walk away from many of the main attractions. St Stephen's Basilica is at our doorstep and The Chain Bridge, Budapest Opera House and The Houses of Parliament are all within 800m. There are also two metro stations nearby- so getting around is easy! Personally, I would recommend that people visit my favourite original Turkish hammam, Rudas Bath :) Pal, Owner/Manager
