Property Description

The new Palmira Hostel makes an extended stay in Tegucigalpa even more inviting – see why many travelers end up staying longer than they had planned!
The new Palmira hostel is still located in Colonia Palmira, the safest neighborhood in Tegucigalpa. This is the embassy district of the capital, with the United Nations building & American Embassy less than 2 blocks away – in fact, Palmira Hostel was actually the former Embassy of Ecuador. So if you’ve ever wanted to spend a night at an embassy, this is your chance.
You’ll also find supermarkets, restaurants & banks within walking distance of Palmira Hostel, along with pubs, bars & live music.
Palmira Hostel offers one large 16-bed dorm for budget travelers. It’s a long, large room with plenty of space, fans & locker storage (bring your own lock). Each bed also comes with 2 pillows each!
One advantage of a large dorm is that you have a great chance of getting a sought-after bottom bunk, especially if it’s not fully booked.
The dorm actually feels more like two 8-bed dorms, as there’s additional space in between & separate light switches.
There are also 2 full bathrooms, each with their own toilet & shower. Both the dorm & bathrooms will always be very clean during your stay. You’ll be surprised to find that your sheets will be changed every day too – not something you ever expect from a hostel!
Palmira Hostel offers a huge full kitchen for use. From an oven & microwave to a fridge & toaster, there’s really everything here you need to cook. All the crockery & cutlery are brand new too. You can enjoy your home-cooked meals in the patio area next to the kitchen. There are 2 large picnic tables, under the shade of umbrellas. There’s also a free barbeque for use as well as free purified drinking water.

The rooftop terrace at Palmira Hostel has the WOW factor! There are beautiful outdoor lounges & chairs to relax in, around wooden coffee tables with charming bonsai plants! It can get pretty hot up here, so put up the large sun umbrellas if you need some shade. Other seating areas include a table & chairs, a hammock & a cute wooden swing set – you can find more hammocks on the lower level. You can even watch TV & you’ll love the outdoor outlets!
There are free hand weights to use at any time of the day, if you can’t wait for the free yoga & workout sessions every evening! Or if you prefer watch the sun go down with a few beers
The rooftop terrace is a great social area to meet other travelers but it’s also large enough that you can have your own privacy if you prefer.
The property it’s surrounded by many trees around, facing a fantastic view of Tegucigalpa. You can even see the 32m tall Cristo del Picacho (statue of Christ) on the pine-studded slopes of the Parque Nacional El Picacho.

2nd time back to Palmira Hostel and will stay there anytime we stay in Tegucigalpa. Great location, spotlessly clean, friendly staff and the owner Hernan is always happy to assist with any requests or information you might need. Highly recommend!

Very nice hostel. The kitchen is clean and well equipped, the garden is large with hammock, tables and a lot of green vegetation, beds are comfy and people are nice. Additionally, the hostel organizes tours to different locations, La Tigra, Nueva Armenia etc. I recommend staying in this accommodation.

Pros: Large and comfortable private rooms. Lots of common spaces, especially outdoors. Well equipped kitchen. Staff were very friendly. Their dog is also super sweet. Location in a nicer bit quiet neighbourhood. Cons: Shower was not so powerful.

Nice chill hostel, good double room and an ideal location with lots around, relatively close to the central park - pedestrian walks and museums (and buses to la tigra if you want nature) and a 10 minute walk from buses to valle de ángeles. Some staff could be friendlier but overall they are helpful if you ask.

A very good hostel to relax on your way to somewhere else, but unfortunately there’s not much to keep you in Tegucigalpa. The fully stocked kitchen and roof terrace are fantastic, 16 beds in a dorm actually works out ok and the 2 bathrooms are passable. The hostel doesnt develop much of a social atmosphere so apart from eat at some good restaurants nearby, I didn’t find anything else to do!

Having 2 pillows was very nice. The dorm room is a very long room with a bunch of beds. The rooftop and garden were very nice. Unfortunately there was not much going on as there were large protests in the city. There is not much the hostel can do about that though.

    Very Good

    13 Jul 2019
Great rooftop from which you can see the city and the sunset, loads of space and the WiFi works up there. Room was clean and we had a balcony. Kitchen is well stocked and there is a courtyard to eat your food. Very secure and friendly staff. However when we arrived there the room we had booked on the website wasn’t available and they said they had a dorm available, or a room in another hostel close by. After quite a bit of back and forth and a call to the hostel owner they moved another booking.
