Property Description

A chance to spend the night on the site of a former brewery – an unforgettable experience in Berlin! The Pfefferbett Hostel Berlin is located on the historic 'Pfefferberg' area in one of Berlin’s hippest and trendiest districts - Prenzlauer Berg. Right next to our hostel you’ll find artists' workshops, galleries, a theater, restaurants and a beer garden with its own brewery - they all breathe new life into the industrial heritage-protected area.

During the building’s reconstruction in 2007 the modern interior design was conceptualised in stylish contrast to the industrial architecture of the 19th century. In the 20 feet high lobby, with its historical ceiling and contemporary wall paintings, the coming together of past and present is particularly apparent. With the plain forms, materials and colors the furnishings of the hostel contribute to the unique atmosphere of old and new.

The central location and the good travel connections make the Pfefferbett particularly attractive for all Berlin travelers. The underground station 'Senefelderplatz' (underground line 2 or U2), that runs from the eastern inner-city via Alexanderplatz and Potsdamer Platz to the 'City West', Zoologischer Garten, is located right next to the 'Pfefferberg' area. 'Hackescher Markt', Mauerpark, the Museum Island and the boulevard 'Unter den Linden' are within 15-20 minute walking distance and the nearby neighborhood scene offers something for every taste – a weekly market, restaurants, bars, clubs, authentic shops, a lot of different bio products and, of course, the famous “Castingallee” are right around the corner! Overview

Pfefferbett Hostel's like no other! We're housed in an old 19th-century brewery that's been transformed into a cultural centre complete with galleries, art studios and a theatre. And the inside's as cool as the outside, with a 24-hour lobby-lounge area featuring brick-vaulted ceilings, a massive light installation and a real fire. Our facilities live up to the hype, too: there's a 24-hour bar, garden and terrace where you can swap travel stories with other guests or use the free Wi-Fi. You'll also be doing your bit for the community by staying here: we're a non-profit that focuses on finding jobs for people with disabilities.

Location

We're in Prenzlauer Berg, a central neighbourhood with a buzzing nightlife scene near the major sights. You can be at Hackesche Höfe checking out the Art Nouveau buildings on foot in 15 minutes, and getting cultural at Museum Island within 20. Alexanderplatz, the big square in the centre of Berlin, is a 20-minute walk, too. You can easily head in from Schönefeld airport on the express service that pulls in to the train station here.

Rooms and Dorms

Our mixed and female-only dorms have super-wide bunks with a locker, reading lamp and power socket. Double and single rooms are filled with bespoke furniture and have TVs. Beds are made before your arrival with free linen, and rooms are cleaned every day for that fresh feeling when you turn in. Privates have en-suites and you can choose from dorms with adjoining bathrooms or shared ones out in the corridor. We've also got rain showers and soundproof windows!

Extras and activities

You can grab a snack at the café or restaurant (don't miss the all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet for €7). There's a mini-market for essentials and an elevator to take you up to your room. Grab a free city map or join one of our walking tours – you'll be an expert on Berlin in no time. When you're back, you can become a champ at pool, foosball and table tennis – there's free coffee and tea too!

I had really good time at Pfefferbett Hostel. If you're not looking for a party hostel, this is definitely the place to go. I had a female dorm booked and the room was super quiet which is a plus for an introvert traveller like me. Breakfast costed 7 euros and was pretty fulfilling with good variety. Location was really good and it was easy to go around with the public transportation. Also the staff were really nice :) 5/5 would recommend

A great Hostel, the best I've stayed in from a facilities and cleanliness point of view. Clean dorms with big beds and large lockers and powerful showers. If you're looking for a hostel full of activities then this isn't the place for you, as they do not run any evening events from the hostel, but they do provide plenty of fliers and the staff are knowledgeable about the good places to visit in the city. Overall thoroughly recommend if you want to stay in relative luxury for the price.

very friendly staff, clean and they have even a nice place to sit at the chimney with open fire (if asked for). Only the (chemical) smell in the toilets was unpleasant. Positiv to mention are also the lockers for your valuable stuff - they lock with your keycard, very convenient. Location perfect.

It was great, I loved staying here. It wasn't too noisy for sleeping. There is also a part where you can hang out with other people/read a book/play the guitar.

Loved it! Flying solo- social if you make use of the common area/bar (can be quiet if you just want to hang in your room). Arrival instructions are easy to follow and the subway is literally right outside! No kitchen facilities - wasn’t a problem, just something to be aware of. All other ammenities are excellent! Toilets and showers are in separate rooms which worked well - always clean. Huge locker! Fit my big travel backpack and day backpack easily. Great location. Would definitely stay again!

This is a good hostel to stay in. However, if you’re going to be walking around the city be aware that it is quite a walk to and from most tourist attractions but it is very close to a train station. Also, if you’re looking for a hostel that offers events during the weekends, this may not be the best hostel to stay in. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience for me.

    Fabulous

The hostel is close to an underground train station which can take you directly to Berlin centre, but the hostel itself was difficult to find. The rooms were spacious and clean, with working lockers. It had an odd atmosphere as the communal area was also in reception but felt safe and welcoming. There’s no kitchen, which isn’t well advertised, but they do serve food and drinks at a reasonable price. They also offered to keep hold of any bags on the day of check out, for no extra cost.
