Loved my stay at the Phoenix, the building like a lot of English buildings may be a little old. But the location and the people were fabulous.

Great staff, not brilliant facilities but would stay here again. The staff were all extremely friendly. They had a great sense of humour and were always laughing with eachother and guests creating a great atmosphere. Can't fault them - Luke especially was amazing Its in a pub with great prices with beer as cheap as £3.90. The room was relatively clean - floor was dirty but the beds were ok. On the first night I almost got locked out as I was given a wrong key but this was easily resolved

    Very Good

My stay at this hostel was actually quite nice, but due to the circumstances of covid, it made it hard for them to operate at their full capacity. which meant that my stay there was less than it would have been if that weren't the circumstance. Despite that, I still really enjoyed my time there. When I did actually speak with the staff, they were all extraordinarily wonderful. I definitely still do recommend staying here. Hopefully, when things shift, people can enjoy the full experience again.

I booked a private room for one night and what I got was a 6 bed dorm just for me. On entry I have been given the linen that I had to put myself. Because of covid the bar, lounge, common room was closed so really I was there just for sleeping. I paid the whole price of a private room which I don't think is right as it was a dorm. Also there is no kitchen which is quite annoying. The lockers in the room are really small and there is no lockers under the bed for bigger luggage.

Hi I made a big mistake to book at this hostel, on the orginal book i was told there would be only one person in the dorms this was confirmed over the telephone call so hence why i booked. When i arrived there was two men in the room which was an issue as i was told there would only be myself That night was the worst night i have expereinced in over 11 years staying at hostels in england. The one man was snoring, i moved at a cost of £25 extra, staff not helpful at all, the private no clean

The workers at the place are very nice, but they are few for the size of the place, so it wasn´t never clean. It is an old hostel, without luxury, neither pleasant spaces. Currently they decide to limit their opening hours so you can make use of the common spaces from 11am to 23pm, crazy. They do not have a kitchen despite the fact that in the description they claim to have it... if I had known it, I would not have gone from the beginning. It is not a place I would return or recommend.
