A good family run hostel. Good breakfast, great security, with good food nearby. Bout a half mile walk to everything, but with many interesting big streets to travel on. Highly recommend for a cozy stay in P.M.

    Very Good

The hostel is in a good location. Not too far from the river front. PM was very safe. The hostel seems to ran by a family so it did feel like a home stay at times. We got a 4 bed dorm and to be honest had all 4 beds been used it would have been way too crowded. Luckily it was just 2 of us. I didn’t see any large communal showers/toilets. I think they are all in the rooms. FYI The staff doesnt seem to speak much English. Overall I enjoyed my stay.

When I first arrived the lady behind the desk didn't speak English and couldn't find my reservation so there was a lot of confusion until the English spoker got there and then it was all good. She was SUPER helpful. Even helped call my hostel in Cusco because they didn't speak English. Recommend some good places to eat as well. It's a few mins to the main square by tok tok or taxi but there's nothing else in the area, you would have to go to the square. There are no windows in the room.

Staff were lovely but only a few speak English. It felt like more of a family home than a hostel. The kitchen wasn’t clean, a lot of bugs and old. It didn’t have a hostel environment. Location is a little far out from the main square.

We had arranged a transfer via email which didn’t show. There was no one at reception and our taxi driver helped us bang on the door to find someone. No one spoke English. No instruction or info about facilities given and not like photos. Shower was cold and bathroom sink leaked water. We were unable to find anyone to help order taxi or find somewhere for dinner. Was obvious it was a family run place which was a little awkward at times. I later found the hostel listed for a quarter of price!

Puerto Maldonado is not a tourist friendly town outside that one street that’s near the town square. Unfortunately Pirwa is way outside of that square. I think we were the only guests that day. It felt like we were in an abandoned hostel. There were no communal area and everything was locked, you had to wait for the hostel owner or her young daughter to walk by the lobby to open the gate for you. Bedsheets were stained and we found 2 cockroaches in our room. We were confined to our room.
