Overview

At Planet Traveler Hostel, we're not only the greenest hostel in Toronto (our heating's geothermal and solar powered), we reckon we're the friendliest, too. Every morning we serve a free breakfast until 1pm, just in case you fancy a lie in. And all through the day, you can help yourself to tea and coffee to take up to our rooftop terrace. We love it when people make new friends, so come on one of our free pub crawls, sing your favourite song on karaoke night or come with us to Niagara Falls. And if you've still got energy to spare, join us for a fitness class on the roof.

Location

We're in the heart of downtown Toronto, a 15-minute walk from Chinatown in one direction and Little Italy in the other – favourites for their mix of bars, cafés, restaurants and shops. The easiest way to get here from Toronto Pearson International Airport is by taxi – it takes about 30 minutes. We're 15 minutes from Union Station Bus Terminal – catch metro line 1 to Queen's Park Station then take tram 506 to College Street at Major Street and we're a minute's walk away.

Rooms and Dorms

Our shared dorms and private rooms are fresh and modern, with en-suites and secure locker areas. Every locker includes a handy power socket for overnight phone charging. Towels and sheets are free, and you'll appreciate the so-comfy memory-foam mattresses. You can choose mixed, male- or female-only dorms. Like all of our rooms, they have air con.

Extras and activities

You can get cosy by the fire in our communal lounge or slouch on the comfy sofa to catch the big game or put on a movie. The popcorn's our treat. If Twitter's your thing, keep on top of your feed using our free Wi-Fi and one of our iMacs. If you like to cook your own meals, get creative in our kitchen. Checking out but leaving late? Leave your bag worry-free in our luggage store.

This was my first time ever staying at a hostel and I had an excellent time! The staff was incredibly friendly and the activities, facilities, and little extra perks like breakfast, netflix, and wi-fi were all perfect additions. If I ever had any experience for the standard hostel experience, this would definitely be above it. I was happy with everyone I was rooming with and I had no issue getting a good sleep. The location of the hostel was excellent, being a close walk to the city centre.

This was a great place to stay. It ticks all the boxes. It was like home away from home. The atmosphere was great, those at the reception are well informed and are always happy to help with a smile. This is a place worth staying and a definite when next in toronto

My stay at Planet Traveler was delightful. The common area is very comfortable with free-use mac computers, plenty of space to relax, and free breakfast, coffee and tea in the mornings until 1:00 pm. Bedrooms are okay, nothing special honestly, though a washroom is included in the room. I would have appreciated a separate shower in the hallway as well, but I'm being picky. The staff is extremely helpful, friendly and professional. Great location, very clean, definitely recommend Planet Traveler!

Great place! Super friendly staff and the location is great, close to subway but also a nice area to walk around! Rooms a tad smaller but not uncomfortable!

The location is perfect, right in the centre of the city but the rooms are still quiet so you can sleep. Every room has it's own bathroom which is great. Staff are so lovely! The breakfast is an amazing perk, it lasts til 1pm and there's literally about 20 cereals and 8 types of bagels! Real mix of people here which is nice, some just passing through, others at the beginning of their working holiday visa (like me!). Only criticisms would be creaky beds and no curtains around the bed for privacy.

Beds weren’t super comfortable and it’s a little awkward that all the common spaces close at midnight because people end up congregating in the stairwell. Staff was great though and the breakfast and dinner were phenomenal. It’s a good place to meet people.

The staff was super friendly and they had a few communal events to offer. However, the location is riddled with crazy homeless people near the streets. One was violent and came close to spitting on me. I wanted to get out of there ASAP.
