I had a very enjoyable time at Puma Backpackers. The staff were friendly and accommodating making you feel at home. The location of the hostel was a perfect 10 min. walk to the centre . Would definitely recommend and stay again if I was in Puno.

Nice hostel. It's pretty quiet for the most part but it's an enjoyable place for a few days.

We loved this hostel. The staff especially was so kind and made us very welcome. Our favourite hostel so far in South america. Great wifi and breakfast. Perfect location. Nice common area to mingle with other travellers.

While it is not quite downtown, this hostel makes you feel right at home. Literally in a family home, the staff are the most kind people you’ll meet! The rooms are basic but have what you need, and the shared bathroom has hot water. It’s in an extremely quiet neighborhood, so it’s definitely a good place to get a really good nights’ sleep! It can get a little chilly at night, so bring an extra jacket or pair of long underwear.

The owner was nice and helpful- he organized tours and busses. The place was very cold, a heater or warm water for showering would have been very nice. The directions were a bit misleading and google maps has the place at the wrong point.

    Very Good

We arrived very late and he was available to let us in despite us stating we would be there hours before. He was very hospitable and got us fresh bread for breakfast in the morning. The room was clean and the bathroom was right across the hall from us which was very convenient. He stored our bags for us for free while we were on an overnight tour. The neighbourhood was out of the main area and there were not a lot of food options around that we saw. Overall very kind host and a good experience.

Booked this hostel as it was the only 1 left. We had no idea the weekend we decided to go to Puno was the festival. We had a private room, which was positive. The security is a loud door bell that gets rung all hours of day and night. Shared bathroom with worst shower water went scolding hot to ice cold, wasn't that clean, ran out of toilet paper. Booked an ok tour for lake titicaca. Breakfast was a bun & jam. Mix up with price from 1 staff to another. They did call us a taxi when we left.

I booked this hostel as I had read some glowing reviews about how great it was! It even ranks 10 out of 10! The thing is, I think a lot of the reviews have been written or commissioned by the owner. There were over 300 reviews, I assume all were perfect scores. If I'd looked at the written reviews on page 2, I would have read the same experiences that my girlfriend and I had. Very hard to find, very dirty kitchen and bathroom, etc. Please look into how this hostel is rated. Thanks

Hostel is in a scatchy neighborhood. We weren’t comfortable at all going out at night. Kitchen and bathroom were in a horrible disgusting condition. The staff tried to make us pay more the we booked through Hostelworld and our originally booked room wasn’t available. It was hard work to convince him that we wouldn’t pay more (and we were not the only ones with this problem...)

We turned up at this place between midday and 1pm and couldn’t get a response when we rang the bell, knocked on the door and tried ringing several times. The area felt really unsafe and was a long way from the centre. After trying unsuccessfully to get a response for 15 minutes, we ended up having to head elsewhere for accommodation, with all our gear. The place looked shut up and abandoned. We are still hoping for a refund of our deposit from Hostelworld, but still waiting...
