Property Description

Qupqugiaq Inn is a one-of-a-kind hotel. We know that many people are tired of cookie-cutter, corporate, boring hotels that don’t offer you anything new. That's why we are so cool.

Each of our rooms is unique, with Alaska themes or decorations from different cultures, and handmade or ultra-modern furniture. It’s not just our futuristic/vintage/global style. You will love the overall design of the small hotel, with a number of community spaces including a shared full kitchen, barbecue, mini-library and free parking lot.

Choose a standard room for some of the most affordable rooms with private bath in Anchorage. We also care about the budget-minded traveler. That's why some of our rooms feature a shared bathroom. We also have Japanese-style sleeping pods (very small and cozy). All of our rooms are private, with electronic locks.
Each room has high speed internet access and satellite TV with HBO. Our common area has a kitchen, computers for guests without their own. Free WiFi. Complimentary continental breakfast (summer only).

The location is great, right in the middle of midtown Anchorage, near a number of good restaurants, parks, markets, the main public library, etc. We are just 10 minutes to the airport or downtown.

This is us: unique, community, hip, artistic and the best deal in town. We hope to see you here! View House Rules

The hostel is quite far away from Downtown (about 45 min walk) but there is a local bus system. The kitchen is very small compared to other hostels I stayed in. It's possible to store bags if you arrive early. A Walmart and a Laundry are very close by.

This hostel/hotel is too isolated from everything. If you are on foot, I would not recommend this place. Also, it is very quiet and not much happening. The room is well equipped: nice bedding, clean, feels safe, Lucas is nice. I was surprised the cleaning staff are permitted to open bags and luggage and place things inside of them without any permission. I returned to my room and found my clothes bunched up and in my suitcase. This is not acceptable and I felt violated.

Overall okay. However, no breakfast as they state that they serve on their profile. That was disappointing. Some bathrooms kinda nasty. Beds okay. Wifi okay

The person who checked us in was very strange. Became very upset when we asked about an elevator, then marched down a flight of stairs to get us a first floor room. We were willing to be flexible, but she wasn't. Then when I went to speak with another person at the counter, later that night, the original counter person muttered something under her breath then started repeating after me like a little child. The woman was very strange in her behavior to the point of being scary.

Overall my stay was good. I’m not sure if it was just a post pandemic phenomenon or the regular order of business but most of the people staying here where long term guest who had been living at the hostel for 6 months to a year which made for a different dynamic than I was used to. They have rules against smoking in rooms, pets, and cooking in the rooms but all of those rules seem to be being ignored by the long term guest.

Sink in our room was leaking and pretty sure there was a small critter in the room that we could hear all night.

Doesn't feel as secure or comfortable. The staff were as welcoming as cashier's, the location was not near anything of significance, and the room had questionable stains on walls, floors, etc. For the price of a hotel, it may have been better to stay at a hotel. The guests were not friendly, aloof, and a little unhinged. Two guests started yelling out loud outside the rooms, intoxicated at 3am for about an hour. No staff around to stop them.

Bedding didn't have a full set of sheets and no cover in quilt. Got locked out of my room several times with malfunctioning swipe card security system. Didn't feel safe here and my backpack got stolen from common room by an employee. Bag was returned but cash was gone..
