When we made this booking the only two beds left were in a 9 bed dorm which is at the front of the hostel next to the kitchen and front door. We didn’t sleep at all with people slamming doors and talking loudly all night, and we had to get up at 4.30am to get the bus for the Tongariro crossing. When we told staff about the noise next day, initially we were told that this was typical for a Saturday night, but we were able to change to a quieter room for our second night and get a better sleep.

I had a huge booger stuck to the wall beside my bed... so the rooms could be a bit cleaner.

They offer everyting a travelers heart disires ;) from all kind of spices to cook to a hairdryer and more! they kept everything really clean and the rooms are quite spacious. little downsides would be the lack of lockers and the not so comfy beds. but the atmosphere makes up for that I guess :)

Great stay at this hostel. Atmosphere was more like that of a family. Very clean, has a rigourous daily cleaning. Each night there is something on the board suggested to do including a Monday movie night. Free parking and 5 minutes walk from town and lake.
