Property Description

So, you are off! You have just decided to travel to El Chalten, and from now on your choices are easier, especially concerning your housing.
Rancho Grande is a pioneer, and still the best hostel in Chalten. Strategically situated near all trekking paths, it offers your choice of shared bedrooms or private rooms, kitchen facilities, baggage storage, safe box, internet service, laundry, restaurant, and best of all, Rancho Grande (widely known as Rancho) is the best place to meet people from all around the world, make new friends, share some beers and watch sports or movies.
The recipe is simple, take your favorite London or Irish Pub, throw some sports bar in the mix, add a little spice of a club scene and what you get is the main room of Rancho.
Dont forget you can also taste the big and famous Bife Rancho or Milanesa Rancho. Both are ideal to replenish your energy after trekking the surrounding area, or maybe you can take a bite of the sweet pastries offered at the bar counter.
The bi-lingual staff at the hostel will do their best to make your stay at Rancho comfortable and cozy. They will offer you the whole panorama you need to enjoy your trip, information regarding places to visit, things to do and not to do, the ins and outs of the area, and trendy suggestions. They are a mix of reception staff, weather forecasters, traffic cops and gpss, and want to make your trip fun and enjoyable.
The staff can also book excursions and accommodations in El Calafate. They sell bus tickets to almost everywhere in Patagonia, and even book airline flights from their travel offices near the entrance of the town.
Rancho sits proudly along the main avenue in Chalten.
As you can see, your choice of where to stay is simple. The only downside is that you must book in advance, specially in high season (September to January). So, pack your stuff and come to Rancho Grande, we are waiting for you with all of our amazing amenities.
You will be rewarded with an unforgettable experience and for sure once you have been here, you will be back for another round!!!

Modern, clean and spacious with kitchen facilities, a restaurant/bar, internet access and laundry.

We hope you choose to stay with us. Our friendly, multi-lingual staff will be waiting for you!

The best hostel that I have stayed so far. It had an attached 24*7 restaurant which helps you to get packed food at any time of the day for the hikes where you leave at 4 am. There is dedicated staff who cleans toilets twice a day. Excellent hygiene and cleanliness. Reception goes out of the way to ensure you are well equipped with all required tips. They also offer a good exchange rate for US dollar( 1 USD = 70 Argentinian pesos)

Rancho Grande has everything you need for your stay in El Chalten. Very friendly staff to answer all your questions and it's well located to start hiking. One thing to improve: it might be necessary to show guest how to close the room doors without having to slap them. It's got a trick with the handle and key so everyone ends up slapping it closed. During the silence hours that is annoying. Other than that, great place. Missing El Chalten already!

Very active hostel with a restaurant but most of the people staying in the hostel hang out upstairs and restaurant people are downstairs. The 24hr restaurant was helpful to get breakfast at 4 am before hiking. The hostel was super clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

This is a great hostel right next to the start of the main walks. The only things to let it down was the cleanliness of the bathroom facilities. The shower was great, very powerful but the locks on the toilets weren't always working and shared with customers in the restaurant so not always the most clean. I recommend this hostel though

I wish they had shelves in the rooms for each bed and in the showers. Overall, it's a bit pricey but it's Patagonia. The 24 hour restaurant is nice, wifi sucks, showers are hot and food is decent.

The hostel staff were lovely and really helpful but I didnt feel it was worth the money. The main chill area is basically a public restaurant so hard to meet others from the hostel and the showers are in the public toilets.

Really big hostel with restaurant attached. Not really a hostel vibe more if a place for people to put their head down. Don’t come here aaa solo traveller go for a smaller more friendly place. Good as good is 24:7 but I wouldn’t stay here as a solo traveller it’s more for groups.

The staff members are helpful, always happy to assist with any bookings and changes. There are loads of showers so no need to wait. The heating is always turned on in the evening. Wifi isn’t working in the room at all and one in the communal area is very slow. The atmosphere is lacking due to large restaurant downstairs so it’s difficult to say who is staying at the hostel. The rooms look very tired and not particularly clean.

Totally overrated place. Food in the restaurant is average, dorms very underwhelming: I expected at least a shelf and a powerpoint for each bed at this price point. Bathrooms became a steam room during the afternoon due to poor ventilation. Toilets were quite dirty at times, at least the ones upstairs. Doors didn't open wide enough, some couldn't even be shut. I think they clean the ones downstairs on a more regular basis as these are also used by restaurant guests. Overall very disappointed.

I don't know why this place has such good reviews. The staff is VERY unfriendly, the rooms are sub par (my room was old and had 4 beds and 2 working outlets). They won't help you with any problems you're having, they just look at you in a really mean way. I would not stay here again. The location was good, but other than that, nothing else.
