It's really an amazing place. It's not in the city, but the navigation to and from is incredibly easy and they will take you almost anywhere you want to go with with vehicles. We loved not being around all the noise of the city and listening to the River instead. Will definitely be back when we come back to Colombia!

We absolutely loved our time at Refugio. We had a private room which was very clean and had the most amazing porch with a hammock. The dorms looked incredible as well. The whole grounds felt like a botanical garden. Ed and his family are wonderful hosts, and we really enjoyed the company of their two dogs, Achilles and Yukon. The location is perfect, in a quiet area. It's easy to do coffee tours, just a short ride away. Ed sends a lot of good information ahead of time to make planning easy.

Truly wonderful property and grounds. Nothing fancy, but simple clean rooms set in a tropical paradise. Easy and super cheap to get into salento. The host Ed was very responsive to communication and extremely helpful with arranging airport pick up and drop offs, and had dinner waiting for us despite a late arrival. Spent 2 nights here, our favourite spot on our Colombia travels.

We absolutely loved our time at Ed’s home. We stayed in the private tent for the first two nights and loved it there so much we extended for two further nights! The beds were comfy, the showers were hot and the kitchen was clean and had everything you needed to make a basic meal! The hostel itself is located a bit further out from salento, but it was very easy, quick and cheap to get a bus into town, as far as we were concerned the location, hostel and hosts were absolutely perfect!

I am so grateful to Ed and his family for my incredible stay in the Refugio dorm next to a beautiful river. The showers are hot, breakfast and dinner are filling, and the property is very peaceful. From Refugio you can hike to coffee farms and town is just a short walk and bus ride away. I initially was worried I might miss out by not staying in Salento, but I found myself looking forward to returning to Refugio at the end of every excursion. I booked for two nights and extended it to five :)

Fantastic property, a bit far from Salento but in a lovely setting, super relaxed and social, great hosts, simple breakfast offering but awesome dinner service. Two large but lovely Alsatians on site. Good sized rooms, clean, luggage storage, reasonably easy to access local attractions, but last bus for Boquoia leaves Salento at 9pm so be aware! WiFi can be rather slow and weak but the cafe in Boquoia has great WiFi and fantastic coffee! Would definitely stay at Ed's Refugio again!

We had a great stay at Ed's hostel! The surroundings are beautiful and there are 6 hectares of terrain for only a few people. We stayed in a (glamping) tent next to the river, and could fall asleep to the sound of nature. The only (limited) downside is that it is a bit removed from town (also an upside). So you have to walk for a bit and have to take the bus there. During the day that it is no problem, but the busses stop at night, so this might be a problem when you're arriving late.

Ed and his family were incredible hosts! The property is SO beautiful! It is a true get-away experience. Ed organized transportation for us to and from the airport and to Cocara Valley. We had home cooked breakfast and dinner, which were delicious! The property is close to Solento, but you have to take a 10 min bus, which is very easy. Ed had great recommendations for us including coffee tours, hiking, and the waterfall. I will definitely be coming back!

A stay I’ll never forget - a beautiful place surrounded by plants and colourful flowers, the view was also incredible. Owner took pride in giving his guests a good experience, and put on a bonfire for us and sang songs. Hostel taxi service (20k peso) was handy, as hostel about 10min drive from Salento. Catching bus is possible, but you need to walk down a long drive for 10mins. Stayed in dorm by the river, the outside bathroom was a bit of a walk especially in the night. Don’t drink before bed!
