Property Description

What is Riad Dia? Quite simply, it is the house that you may have once designed in your head and though 'no, its just not possible I could ever live in a place like this'. An incredible traditional riad with the atmosphere of a backpackers hostel, Riad Dia is located less than a minute from the main square Place D'Jeema el Fna. With a lovely swimming pool in the communal courtyard - colorful, sunny and social, lots of dorm rooms (and these are no ordinary dorms - they are seriously luxury), and several terraces to relax on, sunbathe, put the world to rights.

The riad is traditional, but the colors are bright and wild! It is an inside out, upside down, topsy curvy house. The gardens are indoors - you can even do some fruit picking). Sit among our courtyard gardens with fellow travelers and new friends; make crazy plans for your travels - they will definitely become realities. Or, don't make crazy travel plans! Just enjoy our unique atmosphere over tea and shisha.

Groups are more than welcome. We have significant experience with all kinds of groups, and it really is the perfect space in Marrakesh for a trekking group, photography class group or student group.

Riad Dia is a little contrast of a riad. It is perfect for independent travellers looking for adventure and a place to relax and at the same time it is a one-stop shop for your entire Moroccan trip. We can help you with every aspect of your trip and you don't even need to leave the swimming pool!

Please note:

We welcome guests from everywhere outside of Marrakech, but do not accept re-locators.

Overview

Riad Dia is a traditional Moroccan house with the buzzing vibe of a hostel. It's set around a sunny courtyard with a swimming pool and fruit trees in the middle. With loads of terraces to relax on as well, you can sit and drink tea, or sample flavoured shisha with your new travelling friends. Rather stay busy? We organise activities ranging from cooking classes to local Gnaoua music nights. Breakfast's included, so you'll have plenty of energy for the day ahead!

Location

We're not sure what's more colourful, our hostel or Marrakesh's main square Jemaa el-Fna. Since it's only a 4-minute walk from Riad Dia, we'll leave you to make up your own mind. You can get a freshly made juice from one of the stalls and watch the traders haggle. To get to us from Marrakesh Menara Airport, catch bus L19. It takes less than 15 minutes and you'll be dropped off at Koutoubia Mosque, an 8-minute walk from us. Our entryway's right by a spice shop.

Rooms and Dorms

We have private rooms and mixed dorms with linen and towels included at Riad Dia. If you want to cool off after a walk around the city's pretty Majorelle Garden, come back and sit under the air con. You'll also have your own locker for storing your bags. With cushions scattered all over our communal areas, guests have been known to nap outside the rooms, too.

Extras and activities

There's a kitchen on site, so you can make like a Moroccan and cook up some couscous. You can also order yummy meals in our café. The travel agency that runs our hostel has loads of trips around Morocco, from stints in the Sahara to quad biking at Lalla Takerkoust Lake. If you're more into DIY travel, use our free Wi-Fi – and tips from our friendly staff – to come up with your own itinerary. We have free city maps to help you along the way.

I really loved my stay, there was Air con, the breakfast consists of watermelon, bread, egg and really great tea! The place is absolutely gorgeous. I did wake up with some bites on me but it’s easily resolved with some insect repellent. Riad and Zachaira (sorry for misspelling your name) are some of the chillest most honest people in the world and The laundry service is super cool, I have stayed at 3 other hostels in Marrakech, the majorelle, the madressa and this one is the best of the three.

Extremely good hostel. Rashid and Zakaria (Two of the hosts) were very friendly and made you feel at home immediately. Hostel is close from communications and the city centre. Can definitely recommend Riad Dia for anyone staying in Marrakech.

Really lovely staff that were super helpful, got lost on the way there and someone came to pick me up in a motorcycle. The hostel itself is really comfortable and nice, beautiful terrace and lovely common area downstairs. Breakfast is great as well and the location is perfect!

Very close to the main square, but tucked away in a corner to be quiet enough. Breakfast was delicious. Luggage storage after checkout was excellent. Clean bath towels were available to use for free, which was useful

By far my favourite hostel in Morocco. Great atmosphere, met some amazing people and the staff are a lot of fun. I ended up staying here multiple times as I travelled around the country. Would definitely recommend!

Staff were friendly and helpful, however there wasn't much in terms of security, and our aircon was broken--when we informed the staff they just switched it off. Other than this it was a good stay, the breakfast is lovely :)

It’s an alright hostel. The staff is friendly and helpful, but the rooms are cramped and hot, the bathrooms aren’t great, and there is barely 1 or 2 plugs per room for anyone to charge their electronics. They’re also just located above someone else’s bed so it makes charging your phone overnight impossible. Wifi didn’t work at all. The location is good. And I think the “pool” used to be a water fountain.
