This is a magical location, and the friendliness of the staff really sets the tone for a pleasant and social atmosphere! This was my favourite hostel along the West Highland Way, and I would recommend anyone planning their Way to include an overnight stay at this wonderfully-kept hostel.

Unbelievable location. With a large sitting room with enormous windows overlooking the lake. The building itself is beautiful. Rooms were clean. Bedding comfortable. Showers a bit tight ( could have used a shelf) Our room has windows with screens so we were able to crack them open but others did not which makes it inconvenient for midges. Food was decent and reasonably priced but the kitchen available to guests was enormous and well appointed. Overall a great place to stay.

Excellent staff, lovely location. Meh showers and could use a drying room - (may have missed it though).

Overall, Rowardennan Youth Hostel is good value for money. A picturesque building with a stunning view of Loch Lomond, this is a great place to stay if you are climbing Ben Lomond or hiking along the West Highland Way. The hostel is cosy with a relaxed atmosphere and everyone I met was friendly. The lounge and kitchen are well equipped but internet is only available in the lounge! This place felt safe but it would be good to have lockers available. Toilets were cleaned but could be fresher.

The hostel is clean and oh my the location is just WOW! Only thing that was really lacking, were lockers. There weren't any in the rooms, which isn't what I am used to. However I have had a nice stay over here. P.S. If you are booking the hostel, make sure to check how you will get there. There is a ferry that goes to the hostel once a day from Luss, so make sure you don't miss it!

This hostel is more suited to walkers, eg going to bed early and waking up early. Only two plugs for a small room of six. Beautiful location!

I was predisposed to like my stay here by the serene location and beautiful facility. This was tarnished upon arrival. After a long day of hiking, I was ready to rest, only to find almost a dozen other exhausted hikers in the lobby. This bottleneck was ongoing as a result of the sites incredibly outdated system. Think separate transactions for alcoholic beverages, your stay, and any snacks manually (!) entered with half a dozen other people behind you. I found the high reviews very misleading!

Good: Bedrooms are a decent size and have a sink, great lounge area, good kitchen for cooking. Bad: Hostel has weird layout, bathrooms are far from bedrooms and must walk through dining area to get to them. Showers tiny. Wasn't as clean as expected.

Generally the standard of accommodation at the hostel was OK. However, a few points of note: 1. The evening meal food was overcooked and therefore dry 2. The only air conditioning in the full dormitory was a small window that had a very limited amount. As the result the air was stifling and made for very difficult sleeping 3. The condition and cleanliness of the dormitory was questionable 4. Showers need replacing urgently, very poor condition.
