Hostelworld says

Safestay Gothic is in Ciutat Vella district, very near Museu Picasso, Jaume I metro stop and Barcelona Cathedral, and about 15 minutes' walk to the beach, the aquarium and the Maremàgnum. We like their 'cubicle' style of bunk beds which create a little personal space in large dorm rooms, with privacy curtains, reading lights and power sockets. Many of our guests say they also appreciate the breakfast and the hostel's rooftop terrace.

Barcelona is a city of charming streets, busy with people and full of life. The old town, comprising the Gothic quarter, the Rivera and Raval districts, is famed for its historical monuments, narrow streets and bohemian atmosphere. The city also has the biggest selection of modernist architecture; most of these buildings are in the Eixample district which constitutes a unique model of European urban planning.

Barcelona is the only European capital with over four kilometres of beaches where you can enjoy the most modern amenities and these beaches are not far from Barcelona's historical landmarks, and they have opened up our modern and cosmopolitan city to the sea.

The Safestay Gothic is one of the Safestay Hostels all around Europe.

Persons under the age of 18 are only allowed to stay in private rooms or dormitory rooms that are booked for use of one family or group of persons, and can't share dormitory rooms with other guests. People under 18 years of age must travel with their parents or legal tutor. View House Rules

Great location, friendly staff, comfortable beds, but in the 16 room I found that it tends to get stinky when the window is completely closed up as some guests prefer. The outlet near my # 6 bed was too loose to use and I forgot to mention that to the staff. I liked having two bathrooms inside the room and the lockers in the outside hallway so that it is quieter in the sleeping quarters. The breakfast at 2.5 Euros or so with cereal, soy milk and expresso coffee from a machine.

I really enjoy their free walking tour, I made a lot of new friends there and I'm willing to stay there next time if I visit Barcelona again. The atmosphere is really wonderful and the location is the unique selling point for the hostel. So close to La Rambla Street and to the metro as well.

Location is great, you are in a walking distance of everything:beach, museum, cathedral, shopping avenue. The staff awesome, always super nice and helpful and chatty. Cleanliness could be better specially in the kitchen but that is the guests' fault, some do not clean after themselves. Bathrooms tend to get messy and and underwear are hanging so that is not so nice. Rooms are o.k.. Security: my advice is bring a padlock, use the lockers and take care of your stuff.

Great location! Other then the key cards not working every time and having to get a new one or try multiple times, it was good value for money. The rooms were very humid at night and they had great under bed storage if your bag was too big for the lockers

Decent stay. Staff was nice, although some extra charge for 2.88 I felt was unnecessary and should be included in the original price; it's bothersome to pay an amount online and arrive having to pay more for whatever charges they were. That besides the fact that they didnt have exact change and were missing a few cents that they never gave back, but I wasn't going to cause trouble over it. Floors incredibly creaky, bathrooms weren't a favorite. But cheap enough, especially for Barcelona.

This hostel has some of the worst beds. I also left with a rash all over my body which I am almost fully confident is from the towels. The bathrooms are small and the communal showers are not clean.

Pros: Great location, easy to walk to anywhere. Fast Wifi. Cons: Super squeaky floors in the rooms, so hard to be quiet and will wake you up. Showers were dark and floor was dirty, one of the showers didn’t even point at your body. There was a power issue for one day in the bathrooms where no light or hot water worked. No power points for each bed in the rooms! (This should be a necessity) There are a few power points in the lobby but at night most of them are always being used.

Pros: situated in a good location, very close to everything. Cons: Very squeaky floor at the rooms, if you are sleeping, you are probably going to be bordered by those coming late at night. Slow wifi connectivity. Dirty bathrooms. Disgusting small kitchen (with only a microwave and some utensils). Not so comfortable beds. Power connectors were not working at the room I was staying at, I told then and they did nothing. Atmosphere is terrible, maybe because the common area does not help at all.
