Hostelworld says

Safestay Gothic is in Ciutat Vella district, very near Museu Picasso, Jaume I metro stop and Barcelona Cathedral, and about 15 minutes' walk to the beach, the aquarium and the Maremàgnum. We like their 'cubicle' style of bunk beds which create a little personal space in large dorm rooms, with privacy curtains, reading lights and power sockets. Many of our guests say they also appreciate the breakfast and the hostel's rooftop terrace.

Barcelona is a city of charming streets, busy with people and full of life. The old town, comprising the Gothic quarter, the Rivera and Raval districts, is famed for its historical monuments, narrow streets and bohemian atmosphere. The city also has the biggest selection of modernist architecture; most of these buildings are in the Eixample district which constitutes a unique model of European urban planning.

Barcelona is the only European capital with over four kilometres of beaches where you can enjoy the most modern amenities and these beaches are not far from Barcelona's historical landmarks, and they have opened up our modern and cosmopolitan city to the sea.

The Safestay Gothic is one of the Safestay Hostels all around Europe.

Persons under the age of 18 are only allowed to stay in private rooms or dormitory rooms that are booked for use of one family or group of persons, and can't share dormitory rooms with other guests. People under 18 years of age must travel with their parents or legal tutor. View House Rules

Best hostel yet! They had meet and greets every night which were really fun and made it super easy to meet people, staff were super great and funny and helpful. Definitely worth buying the 15€ wristband so you can get free dinner every night you’re there. Only issues were the lack of charging points in some of the dorms, but there were plenty downstairs

고딕지구가 위험하다고 이야기하긴하지만, 여기는 바로 옆에 대로변에 역이라 오히려 다른 한인민박보다 위치상 상당히 안전해요! 고딕지구 주변에 볼거리 놀거리도 많아서 상당히 좋아요, 이정도 시설에 이정도 가격이면 👍👍 Somebody said Gothic area is quite dangerous nevertheless this area is very safe, more than safe the others hostel. And if you stay in there, you can see the one of the American restaurant near there. You ought to visit in there for eating Dixie hotdog. Better than real America hotdog. lol honestly, go for it. Cool staff, reasonable price.

Safestay Barcelona Gothic is definitely one of your average hostels. I, personally, found no real sociable aspect to this hostel but I have to say it is in a decent area and close to the metro station.

I tried to give this place a chance and ignore the other reviews about the lack of A/C, very noisy beds and floor boards etc.! I shouldn't have! I think they were spot on when other reviews mentioned the lack of atmopshere, the kitchen is non-existent, like a very awkward closet. This was not a party hostel so I thought I could get a good nights sleep, but even on Sept. on 20th, the room was very warm w/o a window to open no A/C. The beds & floors were SO loud! Couldn't sleep with ear plugs in.

The room was basic and had no air con so it is too hot to sleep. The beds have no privacy to them, also the rooms lights were on a timer and so turned themselves off after 10 mins which is not practical at all. We were in room 101 and it was so loud outside as well as noise from the reception area while we were trying to sleep. Showers are okay but very basic and not what was expected for paying as much as we did. One of the most expensive hostels I have stayed in and one of the worst.

We booked this hostel purely based on the central location, but we didn't think it would be this bad !! the 'kitchen' is a kettle and a toaster, the 3.50 breakfast is some toast and tea, there were hidden fees during the check in , no alcohol allowed and closing the roof terrace at night left a horrible social atmosphere , they crammed as many bunk beds as possible into a tiny dark room so there isnt any room to move. overall the only positive was the central location, would not stay again !!
