Hostelworld says

Safestay Gothic is in Ciutat Vella district, very near Museu Picasso, Jaume I metro stop and Barcelona Cathedral, and about 15 minutes' walk to the beach, the aquarium and the Maremàgnum. We like their 'cubicle' style of bunk beds which create a little personal space in large dorm rooms, with privacy curtains, reading lights and power sockets. Many of our guests say they also appreciate the breakfast and the hostel's rooftop terrace.

Barcelona is a city of charming streets, busy with people and full of life. The old town, comprising the Gothic quarter, the Rivera and Raval districts, is famed for its historical monuments, narrow streets and bohemian atmosphere. The city also has the biggest selection of modernist architecture; most of these buildings are in the Eixample district which constitutes a unique model of European urban planning.

Barcelona is the only European capital with over four kilometres of beaches where you can enjoy the most modern amenities and these beaches are not far from Barcelona's historical landmarks, and they have opened up our modern and cosmopolitan city to the sea.

The Safestay Gothic is one of the Safestay Hostels all around Europe.

Persons under the age of 18 are only allowed to stay in private rooms or dormitory rooms that are booked for use of one family or group of persons, and can't share dormitory rooms with other guests. People under 18 years of age must travel with their parents or legal tutor.

Please note Safestay Barcelona Gothic is a cashless hostel. View House Rules

Had a great time. Great location. Clean. Safe. Quite empty but makes sense since the world is recovering from covid. Can’t recommend a better location.

The renovations of the bathrooms make it easy for showers anytime. The beds are the best ones I've had at a hostel out of 8 different ones. Decent sound proofing for good sleep. Best location in the town, close to everything. Rather chill while I was there. Staff greeted me with a smile and assisted with questions and needs. Raphael was most generous, kind, and informative. I will stay here every time I'm in Barcelona. Cheers!

everything was fine but what made me angry was that the staff threw away a whole bag of food from me which I still wanted to eat. there is a sign saying that every monday (!) they will throw everything away which has no date and name on it. that’s okay but it was not monday and I was hungry and broke af and had to buy new stuff. thanks for that ... besides that, everything was good and very clean too.

This hostel is in a great location, both near areas of interest as well as main metro connections. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the lounge is a great place to hang out and meet other travellers. The beds having curtains is a great plus, and the shower and bathroom stalls are fairly typical of a hostel. Didn't find any major issues with this place, it's a pretty typical hostel.

It's great for somewhere quiet to stay but it's a very unsociable hostel if that is what you're looking for.

    Very Good

The location is great and the area is super safe. It's close to everything. The staff was really nice and helpful. It's not a friendly hostel, meaning people aren't interested in chatting/getting to know other travellers. That doesn't mean it's bad, but I'm usually more into hostels where I can make friends. There isn't really a kitchen so you can't count on cooking your meals there, just a microwave. Only criticism is there was an aweful p*ss smell in the corridor downstairs by the lockers.

    Very Good

    12 Nov 2021
Was happy to have a hot shower and curtains but the staff was incredibly rude and their was no socializing. Not a welcoming place, sad excuse for a kitchen, and no where to keep your stuff in your room. Left a day early and never plan on returning. A fine place if you only need a bed to sleep in.

Great location in the Gothic quarter. My bed was so uncomfortable and the people in my room so unfriendly and unrespectful.. The room looks like a jail! The atmosphere is not really great. One evening just at 8:00 pm the staff asked to people to leave the common area or people are in the common area to not speak in the room...
