-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sakura La An occupies the renovated top floor of a 50-year-old retro building dating back to 1964, the year of the Tokyo Olympics.

Our common area has a sunny terrace and garden, where guests can help themselves to coffee or green tea and enjoy our small library of books on Japanese art, architecture, pottery, tea ceremony (chanoyu), traditional kaiseki meals, and other traditional arts and crafts. Cultural experience programs for tea ceremony, kimono-dressing, and calligraphy are available (additional fees apply). A combined kimono-dressing and tea ceremony program is offered in our tranquil tatami-floored tearoom.

Sakura La An is more than just a place to sleep – it is ready to ensure that your stay is fun-filled and memorable. We look forward to ichigo ichie (一期一会) - the central concept of the tea ceremony, meaning“a once in a lifetime encounter”– and welcoming you to Osaka. View House Rules

One of the coziest hostels I’ve ever been to - super comfy beds, clean facilities, great neighborhood, and awesome environment. The common room is set up nicely to introduce travelers to each other. There’s a tea ceremony every evening. If you have a room by the common area, it may get loud if you are trying to sleep. Ask Masa to take you to karaoke!

It wasn’t very big but the way it was set up was very cozy. I loved the friendly staff. I thought it was extremely awesome they do a tea ceremony every night for any of the guests interested. The common area was a good place to chit chat and meet others. Would stay again!

The staff were extremely helpful when there was a medical emergency and went the extra mile trying to find hospital with English speaking doctors. They also helped to translate the symptoms. And held our beds in case we needed to stay an extra night. Very grateful for all their help.

Sakura La An is likely the best hostel I’ve ever stayed at- and I’ve stayed at many in my time. Its common spaces were stunning and the tea ceremony was very special. The location is quite good but it would be perfect if it was even more downtown. I can not recommend this place enough!

A nice chill hostel experience, away from the hustle and bustle of inner Osaka but close enough by train to absolutely anything. The hostel has a cozy common area where I spent alot of time with new friends, laughing and chatting about our experiences and our lives. Everyone that stayed had a friendly and approachable personality and it was an amazing experience. The hostel is clean, tidy and air conditioned. Free breakfast every morning hit the spot and the tea ceremony in the evening was mean.

It was a really nice hostel for my one night stay. It was near a market which was really nice. It was a bit noisy at night as I was off lobby but they offer earplugs at the desk. Other people in my room left the door unlocked and would open it for anyone. Would stay again.
