-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sakura La An occupies the renovated top floor of a 50-year-old retro building dating back to 1964, the year of the Tokyo Olympics.

Our common area has a sunny terrace and garden, where guests can help themselves to coffee or green tea and enjoy our small library of books on Japanese art, architecture, pottery, tea ceremony (chanoyu), traditional kaiseki meals, and other traditional arts and crafts. Cultural experience programs for tea ceremony, kimono-dressing, and calligraphy are available (additional fees apply). A combined kimono-dressing and tea ceremony program is offered in our tranquil tatami-floored tearoom.

Sakura La An is more than just a place to sleep – it is ready to ensure that your stay is fun-filled and memorable. We look forward to ichigo ichie (一期一会) - the central concept of the tea ceremony, meaning“a once in a lifetime encounter”– and welcoming you to Osaka. View House Rules

I had a great experience here. Sleeping arrangements were great, slept well. The location was perfect, close to two train stations and walking distance to Yodobashi Umeda (~1.25 miles). I LOVED the staff!! The matcha ceremony was amazing, and the other guests were fun to interact with. Great stay, ありがとうございます Sakura La An!

Amazing super clean hostel near one of Osaka’s shopping streets. Walking distance from plenty of restaurants, bars, shops. Right between two metro stations so super easy to get around. Friendly staff, they do a tea ceremony every night at 9. Good place to meet other travelers.

Absolutely loved my stay here! I stayed in the 6 bed female dorm and I was very comfortable for my stay! The hostel is in an excellent location, right next to the longest shopping street in Japan. They host a free tea ceremony every night at 9 p.m. and I really enjoyed it! It was very interesting and the host is willing to answer questions and has a great energy. A very calming experience, especially if you’re heading off to bed afterwards. Excellent place, I highly recommend! Would stay again!

    Very Good

Decent hostel, no major complaints. Overall clean, friendly staff and atmosphere, not too far from the station. Wierd layout; Sinks and toilet are in the corridor on the way to the lounge, so everyone can see you brush your teeth, pop to the loo in your pyjamas etc., bedrooms are right beside the lounge so lots of noise traffic, breakfast room is on another floor, but frigde is in the bedrooms? No big lockers, only small lockers in the bed capsule itself and you need a padlock.

My first night the tea ceremony was cancelled. I spoke with other guests who have been there for a few nights and it was cancelled during their stay as well. During one of my nights the A/C in the room wasn't working, they don't have a 24 hour reception so no one to help, it did fix itself in the morning. The shower had no hot water, I went to reception to inform but no one was there, it said ring for service, I did and waited a few minutes and no one came. The hostel itself is very cramped
