I stayed in the a private room (shared bathroom) for two weeks. Positive: - Staff is very kind and willing to help - Nice atmosphere - Spacious private bedroom - Comfortable bed - Impeccable cleanness - Breakfast included (nothing fancy, but still very good) Negative: - Most of the stoves are broken or work slow. Cooking a simple dish might take ages. - Small kitchen for lots of people. - The hostel in general is quite noisy. Sometimes noises are caused by the staff, very early.

Great location, restaurants, stores, food trucks and art gallery within walking distance. Security was efficient, common space had individual/group seating and vending machine. Kitchen space big, still crowded with people, two not working stove tops, but still others use. Restroom small, 8x3, but efficient; showers in separate room. Noise levels remain consistent until early hours of morning due to city living. Room had nice view of city tops and street from big window.

Good place. Bed/room, bathrooms were all very clean and well maintained. Good common area and kitchen as well. And nearly all the staff were super helpful and friendly and super central. SO can't fault it on those things, it is a good hostel!! It is however BIG, really BIG, so doesnt really allow for the most sociable of hostels. If i was in a group or just here for a night, i'd definitely stay, but going solo, maybe not so. But still, a good place that i would recommend.

Samesun Vancouver was an absolutely great hostel to stay in for a 1-nighter. Staff were pleasant, straight forward, and rooms/bathrooms were clean and stocked. Atmosphere was surprisingly very busy amid COVID-19. Face masks required; however, everyone is in very close quarters at the hostel. Kitchen is stocked and well used. Value is great and comparable for a hostel. Only major con might be the location that the hostel is located in. Parking is recommended in one of the paid, gated lots.

I have stayed in hostels all over Canada and this by far has been the worst one. I don’t understand how the ratings are so high. The worst part was the smell, it smells like a hospital everywhere. We stayed in a tiny female dorm, I did not feel comfortable having to trek down the hall to use the unisex bathrooms. The bed unit itself was fine but not the cleanest, there were too many people in the room and poor ventilation. We ended up shortening our stay and moving to the hotel next door.

Samesun was recommended to me so I was surprised when I showed up and the place had an odd smell and wasn't really up to standard. Very overpriced, you can share a hotel /motel room with 1-2 people for cheaper. My friends and I saw a mouse (twice!) and told 2 employees and neither seemed to care at all and didn't even apologize for the inconvenience or say anything about the fact that there's a mouse in their building. Area was central which is nice but also a little bit sketchy.

They vacuum but don’t mop/disinfect the hardwood floors so make sure to bring slippers. The showers are not part of the rooms so not a good hostel. At least have showers inside the rooms for privacy. The hostel is loud and noisy at night hours and there are venues outside open late so don’t expect to get some decent sleep. It’s good for people that want to party but not for tourists in general. Would recommend looking for a quieter place if you do not want to be around drunk people.
