Hostelworld says

Sanlitun Youth Hostel is a friendly, relaxed hostel with English-speaking staff who are 'easy to approach, fun to talk with and very helpful', according to our guests. This hostel has a western breakfast and a popular bar serving cheap drinks. It's surrounded by some of Beijing's best nightlife and many Hostelworld travellers have told us they will stay here again. We like their free dumplings on Friday nights and free Chinese hot pots on Wednesday - a great way to sample the local food and meet other travellers.

We also offer tours to many of Beijing's famous attractions and provide transportation and tickets to the city's hottest talked-about shows. We organise daily tours to Mutianyu Great Wall and the Ming Tombs and city tours to Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven and Tiananmen Square. We also have daily night view tours. We can book car services and tickets for kung fu shows, acrobatics shows and the Beijing Opera.

The location of this property was the only plus. We decided to stay because we happened to have the room to ourselves, but overall we don’t recommend this hostel. Pros- closest hostel to the airport Cons- AC didn’t work in room, TV didn’t work in room, most of the employees just sat on their phones and didn’t really seem to acknowledge us. There was NO toilet paper for 3 days even after they had been just cleaned. There was SMOKING in the room across from us even through it said no smoking.

Pretty rubbish: high price (I had a double rm), but some rude staff, no wifi in the rooms (only in the bar downstairs), cold shower (in December), and when I showed staff that the door lock didn't work, they told me not to worry as all the rooms were like that! When I arrived, the man on the desk wouldn't check me in as, "Only the manager has access to the Hostelworld bookings, and she's gone out". He messaged her, but refused to try calling her (saying it would be "disrespectful"!).

Sanlitun Youth Hostel says

Since we're in the lively area of Sanlitun, we are in a great location for our travellers to experience Sanlitun village and Bar Street. Also, we are only a 20 minute subway ride away from Tian'an men and the Forbidden City. I think that one of the best things about the hostel is the free dumping night on Friday, and the free hotpot night on Wednesday; there's always a great atmosphere. All of our staff speak English, so if you ever have a problem, you can always approach them. Our main age group is 20 -30 and you can find a lot of our travellers playing table football at the hostel or using the pool table. Kang, Manager
