Property Description

As Colombia’s shining jewel of art, culture and design, Medellin is hailed as the place to visit for every type of culture vulture out there, from foodie to fashionista, from hippie to hipster. At Selina Medellin, you’ll find a welcoming community of fellow travellers, fearless adventurers who are ready to help you take on this incredibly diverse city.

Despite the small-town feel of Medellin, this huge metropolitan city offers a bumper crop of museums, cultural centres, indie movie theatres, avant-garde restaurants and wine bars, and—of course—coffee shops. Most notable are the Museum de Antioquia and the MAMM (Museum of Modern Art). Those with a taste for nature can take a funicular ride up the mountains, stopping at the small communities along the way, or going straight to the top for gorgeous panoramic views and zip line rides.

Use our common areas to plan out your day and make new friends, shoot a friendly game of pool, or kick back with a good book. When you get hungry, all the inspiration you need can be found in our shared kitchen and when you need to get stuff done, check out our Wi-fi- equipped co-working room for instant productivity. It's not the hostel so much when it comes to cleanliness as the other guests in my dorm that caused a constant cleanliness issue for our shared bathroom. Some guests have no manners or courtesy and I was unfortunate to visit Selina Medellin at a time when such people were present in high number. Anyways, the hostel should realise and perhaps check in twice a day.

You know what you're in for with Selina but there are probably no other free hostels. If you want a hostel with a plug by the bed and a privacy curtain, great. But if you're looking for community, there are so many better options in Medellin (I loved Black Sheep). I accidentally left some items in the room, and was told I couldn't go back in because the cleaner had found nothing there. Yet after I begged, and went back with security, all my stuff was indeed there. Doesn't make me want to go back

Disappointed. Dirty. Clearly not enough cleaning guys for the needs of the hostel/amount of guests. No reading lamps. Stuffy and super packed rooms. Expensive coffee & food for what you get. Staff doesn’t seem to care very much. Would not recommend.

Worst selina I've been in. First of all, our floor was under construction and we had difficult time sleeping. No soap in the bathroom. We had an old air conditioner box that looks like it was taken from the 1950s', and it was instead of part of the window so it was not sound proof from the outside. My friend almost got electrified from the light switch in the bathroom when he tried to turn it off. Also, the light was getting into the room through the shades in morning so we woke up too early.

Selina is the place you go when you have no where to go. Boutique like hotel, no vibe. No super great for anything. Brazil Selina looks ok though but expensive for what it is 😬

Did not enjoy my stay at Selina despite it being a reputable hostel. Everything in the kitchen is filthy, 18 bed dorms only have one toilet which is rarely cleaned and it cost $14 a night. Buying anything in the restaurant will cost more than you expected by about 20% (the staff add service charge to everything without asking even if just a bottled beer). Everything is overpriced and you can find way better value somewhere else (black sheep, purple monkey, sugar cane). Wouldn’t recommend

There was no soap in the bathrooms. The bathroom it self had a pool of water and dirt everywhere. When I went to reception to ask if they could refill the soap, she said dorms don’t come with soap. You can imagine the cleanliness for the rest of the place. They only give you one key, regardless of the number of people that check in. Breakfast was good, but they try to scam you out of it. Make sure to get your breakfast cards at checkin if you payed extra for it. Not the typical Selina experience
