the selina itself is very pretty. the staff are very welcoming and always happy to help. beds are super comfy with aircon. however we did not realise this selina is solely based around co-working. this meant there aren’t many places to sit and socialize- as well as seeing barely any other backpackers.

    Very Good

Beautiful hostel with comfortable beds, nice lounge areas and a great co-working space in the north part of town. Location is awesome next to a grocery store, tons of restaurants and the beach is just across the street and down a nice trail. Totally great set up. Might have been an off-week, but it felt like no one was there and there weren't any activities or ways to engage with other travelers. It felt a bit isolating traveling alone and staying there. Could have been an off-week?

Overall great location, however when I booked it had totally different pictures to what it actually was. Looks like now it's been updated. Kitchen has hardly anything in it (1 knife and 1 frying pan) it didn't seem ready to be a functioning hostel yet - they were still painting, there was no bar or restaurant (restaurant was being built during my stay) you had to pay $12 for the yoga classes, in other selinas I've stayed in it was included. Great potential, but wasn't quite there yet

Lacks atmosphere and with that not many people staying there. Photos always look so good online for Selina’a but up close it’s shoddy, bathroom was dirty. Weirdly there were two dorms in the attic myself and a random guy in one and another with just a guy. As a female really they should have put us all together or the two guys. Felt a bit awkward myself and the other guy. Better places to stay in Santa Teresa but beach and restaurants very close.

Staff are really rude and have no idea what they’re doing. I stayed in Manuel Antonio and was so shocked by the difference in the two. The activities weren’t free like they were in Manuel. The staff continuously got wrong who was in what rooms and overbooked the dorms. The kitchen was grossly under stocked - 1 sharp knife which was bent. Barely anything in there and dirty. It’s a co working space that they’ve just made a hostel. Was still being built. No bar or restaurant. Location was good.

AVOID! Misleading pictures! They are altered. The pool is actually in the parking lot, there is no communal space for travelers, we paid about 180USD for a private since it was the only option. No kitchen, no breakfast, no value for money. I was also baffled to see that some staff came in our room without notice to reduce the A/C while we we're gone? Also the mattress were crap, we both woke up with a sore back. We spent our 2nd night elsewhere. Best decision ever, the other Hostel was unreal!

Please please do not be deceived by the photos, it’s a terrible hostel. It had serious old people home vibes, I actually felt depressed during my stay there… Its insane?! There was a cockroach in my room, and crabs and dead bugs in the pool!! The service is horrific, food is very average and take ages to be made… I had to wait over an hour for a breakfast burrito and a black coffee! Everything is really really expensive. Please do not stay here. There’s plenty of other far better hostels…
