This is a great hostel, very cosy, warm and friendly. The fire was burning every night and the lounge was a great space to relax in the evenings! There is loads of lovely outdoor spaces as well. The staff were brilliant and very helpful. The free breakfast, soup AND chocolate pudding was all amazing - thank you! I would definitely recommend this hostel to others!

Most at home/comfortable I’ve felt in a NZ hostel. The soup and pudding is delish, and the fire at night is really nice. They provide extra blankets and hot water bottles if you’re cold in the rooms, beds were comfy and inviting. I’ve stayed twice now and if I went to picton again, would definitely stay at Sequoia.

Enjoyed our stay at Sequoia but it was very cold at night. Needed a hot water bottle and even then it was a bit chilly. The lounge was cozy and the TV room was nice. Good WiFi and decent atmosphere. Would come back!

This is from someone who hasn’t stayed at a hostel for 50 years, so take that into account. The place was cheerful and clean, if a bit worn. We booked a room w a private bath. It was quite basic, and the bathroom sink had separate hot and cold spigots, haven’t seen that in a while. No tv in the room. A common kitchen was available with coffee, even ground coffee, rare in hotels here. And the famous chocolate pudding was a real treat. Don’t forget to call for a free pickup from the ferry!

This hostel is fine for a nights stay, but I was a little disappointed. I had read the reviews and was very excited about the free soup and pudding, the gesture is amazing but it was just about edible. Breakfast was good and The kitchen facilities are great! Bedrooms were fine, but really could do with thicker duvets or more heating, it was freezing! There are blankets and hot water bottles but not for everyone. The spa wasn’t working when I was there, but the fire was cosy. Staff were friendly.
