At Sleep In Heaven, we blend cosy hygge vibes with Scandi-chic décor. Our super-knowledgeable staff on the 24-hour reception are happy to share secret tips on where to go in Copenhagen. We're a roomy hostel with the facilities to match, including an outdoor terrace – a sweet spot to hang out in when it's sunny – and a bar with a daily happy hour (cheers!). When you're ready to check out trendy Copenhagen's bright paint-box buildings and clean green spaces, join us on a free walking tour.

We're in the multicultural Nørrebro part of the city, Copenhagen's answer to Brooklyn, with vintage shops and indie bars as well as electro clubs. We're about a half-hour walk from the main Strøget shopping district and Copenhagen Central Station. From here, you can easily walk to sights like Nyhavn, the famous 17th-century canal street lined with colourful houses. Copenhagen Airport is 18 minutes by metro from Forum Station, which is a 12-minute stroll from the hostel.

Rooms and Dorms

Our private rooms are recently renovated – so they feel fresh and modern – and we have mixed or female-only dorms to choose from. These are easy to swipe into using your key card, and they have free Wi-Fi (so you can upload those snaps of Copenhagen's famous Little Mermaid statue from bed). We're also got free bedding and secure lockers to stash your stuff, and shared bathrooms that have handy hair dryers and hot showers.

Extras and activities

Our roomy common area – with its pool table, cosy sofas and board games – is always filled with music and friendly chatter. We'll also put on a big all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet (for a few kroner) in the mornings. When night-time falls, there are takeaways nearby ranging from Turkish to Asian to fill hungry bellies. Our 24-hour security will keep your belongings safe, so you won't need to think twice about staying out all day with our free city maps and a rented bike.

Would 100% recommend this hostel to anyone staying in Copenhagen. Fantastic value for the place. Was very central location, most areas were within a 20-45 minute walk with plenty of bus stops or the metro nearby to use. Had two big supermarkets nearby so you could buy some food there and eat it in the kitchen/lounge area back in the hostel. Very clean area, felt safe in the hostel, and all the staff were super lovely!

One of the best hostels I’ve stayed in. Read some bad reviews but honestly they can be thrown right out! Rooms are great and each bed has a light and plug socket next to them, and the common area is so cosy and welcoming! The cafe upstairs is great and they have pot noodle type things and a microwave you can use to save money. Honestly great, and staff were very helpful and friendly. Loved it!

It’s a very cute hostel, very clean and the beds are SO COMFORTABLE. My only problem was the stairs getting to my bed - they look pretty cool but are so dangerous to climb! Very steep and jagged. I ended up with my knees bruised :( but other than that it was fine :)

Location can’t be beat. Folks who stay here are awesome too. I stayed in the second building, that I believe is right behind sidecar. Quiet, well kept. Pro the men’s showers, the middle shower has the best pressure 😂

We had a great stay. Norrebro was awesome - about a 20 minute walk to center but lots of to see along the way. The hostel was close to bakeries, restaurants and grocery stores. No kitchen but they did have a microwave and toaster to use. We rented bikes with them which was a great value and super fun! The room we stayed in was fine and there were enough bathrooms and showers. Everything was clean but our room smelled TERRIBLE. Hard to know if it was a stinky boy or if it just smells like that!

It was a good and clean hostel. I stayed in an all-female dorm room. The first night I was alone in the room which felt kinda weird, but the next night someone else showed up, so that was nice. The showers were good. Security as well. You have your own locker in which you can put your laptop, camera etc. No complaints. Lots of food places close to the hostel which is nice for dinnertime.

Overall, it was great and I would definitely stay here again. The common room is in a separate building from some of the dorms which makes it a little hard to interact sometimes. Everything was clean, although I don’t believe they cleaned the showers or floors as often as they said they do. The food was cheap here compared to in the city! The lockers were easy and safe. It was a little far from the city to walk everyday, but there are bikes and buses.

Sleep in Heaven says

I think our hostel is ideal for backpackers and students, travelling alone or in smaller groups, who want to experience the unique culture of Copenhagen and especially the sprawling and urban atmosphere of Nørrebro, the hip neighborhood.
We like to have fun around here, whether it's socializing in our huge chill-out zone or relaxing in our candlelit beer garden. There's also foosball, pool and other games and if you want to go out the local bars and clubs offer our guests discounts and free entrance.
Our spot is really what makes us unique, though. Near our hostel is Jægersborgade (for the best cafes, shops and restaurants), the Assistens Kirkegård cemetery (where Hans Christian Andersen and Soren Kierkegaard are), Blågårdsgade & Sankt Hans Torv (full of small cafes and bars), Rust & Stengade 30 (for clubs) and Ravnsborggade, if you're into second-hand shopping. In fact, our dedicated young student team are happyt o offer all their best local insider tips to Copenhagen! Christian, Owner
