Room were small. But beds are comfortable. Big boxes (big enough to easily fit 65L Rucksack and 30L backpack) under the bed. Located super close to the main city square, but is also in the red lights district. Strip clubs next to it but safe area. Great food in the restaurant with large portions. However, check-in was horrible with one receptionist being super rude/uncooperative. But other staff was friendly/polite. Cleaner stole/mistakenly cleaned my belongings. All in all - 8/10. Recommended.

Dont book this place if you're solo, it's less of a hostel and more of a dorm with a bar downstairs. Facilities were good, best shower in weeks here and the most comfortable beds, however it really misses the mark on providing the hostel experience I've been enjoying all over europe.

    Very Good

    13 Jan 2020
Pros: - Great location (food, drinks, bike shop, bars, etc.) - Cleaning staff was very thorough Cons: - Bar staff + their vibe was very off putting and not welcoming. They seemed to annoyed when asked questions about the drink + food menu - Receptionist staff was not accommodating nor did they seem interested in the guest who were staying at the hostel - Staff couldn’t and did not provide any recommendations on places to see or eat. It seemed like the staff was not familiar with the area

Party people came in late at night with no concern for other guests. Left my bed closed and someone opened and lurk at my stuff, nothing was taken except my privacy.

The Winston is way too expensive. While we were there both the pin machines and the lockers broke down. I understand they were under a lot of pressure in these situations, but they were a bit rude to customers who asked for help. The "party rock n roll" atmosphere felt kind of forced and touristy. Location was great besides the loud streets keeping us awake (bug thats a hostels for you). What really made all of this difficult was how much our stay cost. Would not recommend.

St Christopher's at The Winston says

One of the things that makes our hostel unique is that we invite various upcoming designers to decorate each of our rooms with weird and interesting themes. None of our rooms look the same, and you could be sleeping in a movie-themed room, a psychedelic room or even a sex-oriented room!

We have a very interesting team here at The Winston, with staff from several countries, in several age-groups. It's a nicely mixed bunch of people.

We have the Red Light District in our backyard and lots of coffee shops, restaurants and crazy little shops are around us. Add to that a bar and a nightclub which are in our building on the ground floor, and you have all the ingredients to have a great time in Amsterdam. If you'd like to relax or see the interesting sights in Amsterdam, most options are on walking distance or a few minutes by tram.
