Calm place, warm showers and stunning view. The breakfast could do with some improvement. But great value for money.

Let me start by saying, they really took good care of us at Sunset Hostel. The staff was great, and very helpful, our baggage was lost on the way to Peru, and they helped us receive it at the hostel. The restaurant inside the hostel had some of the best food we had in Cusco, so definitely check that out while you are there, and the view of the city from the rooftop was excellent. One complaint, our room had crazy mold in it, made it hard to sleep. Not sure how the upstairs rooms are.

    Fabulous

We stayed in both a private and shared room and had two very different experiences. The private room was very comfortable and clean, and the bathroom was nice. The public bathrooms are a different story, though it's to be expected. The shared room was also very dirty, and there was barely any space to put any luggage. We don't mind noise, but it was very loud, from early in the morning to late at night.

Stayed here 3 nights. My room was in the basement which was very cold. The staff were all very friendly but would smoke pot in the room across from mine. They would also be cooking outside my room and would be playing music and just having a good time late into the night. It stunk up my room. Pretty sure there is just a board separating my room from the next. I could hear everything including an intimate couple. Pretty sure there was mold on the bedroom walls and in the shower.

You get what you pay for here... if you're looking for a cheap spot to sleep and store your things while out on a trek, then this place is fine. If you're looking for anything more, or someplace relatively quiet, go elsewhere. Staff was friendly enough and available 24/7, and there is a bar w/ a good happy hour. That being said, you hear everyone, breakfast was out one morning and not others, and our beds felt like they were about to fall apart (actually one of the baseboards did fall out).

When we arrived the room had not been cleaned, they quickly remade the beds but we saw that they did not change the sheets. The bathroom was small and smelly. Then the person before us had not turned in the key and the hostel didn't have an extra so they asked us to leave the door unlocked until they could replace the key the next day. We decided to go to a different hostel down the street, asked for a refund but weren't given one.

The hostel staff were all very helpful and accommodating of us. In terms of Location, it is about a 10-15 minute walk away from the main plaza, up a pretty steep hill (good exercise though, and it is a very nice area with some shops and things) Most of the staff were good, but the front desk women when we first got there gave me the wrong change and was missing 100 sols. Our room was very loud, all night. You could hear conversations, toilets flushing, music etc going on into the early hours.

Extremely mediocre. The staff wasn't very friendly, there was no toilet paper in the bathroom for quite a while and everything is very bare bones. On the other hand you're not paying very much so I guess it evens out. On the bright side the restaurant inside, Ayni, is totally amazing and worth dining in.
