Sapa is definitely a very average town, I followed Googles advice to stay in the mountains and found Ta Van to be stunning. A taxi to Ta Van from Sapa is standard at 200k while a bike is less than 100k, there’s also a 75k entrance fee, but the cost was very worth it in my opinion. There’s a reason the Homestay has such high reviews, it’s got amazing views, a delicious included breakfast, and an amazing host that can direct you on hikes based on your desires.

Lan was a great hostess. She was very nice and was always willing to answer any questions. The location is nice and laid back, there is a nice terrace with some hammocks to hangout on. Since it's in a relatively rural location there aren't many restaurants around, however Lan has dinner options available and they are nice large portions. If you think money may be a concern I advise to get money out while in Sapa, you won't find any ATMs here.

Got in late off a bus and this is about 200k dong taxi out of town plus a 75k entrance fee, so we scrapped our stay and went to link homestay in town. Ta van was very responsive and we only lost our deposit. After visiting ta van village we saw that this place has a gorgeous location on tge side of tge mountain with stunning views, clearly a wonderful spot if you just want to relax.

    Fabulous

We walked from Sapa to Ta Van and stayed in a 4 bunk room but on our own. Clean room and linen. Large lockers for bags. Cool deck area with chairs and hammocks and nice view. Bathroom and toilet clean, good hot water. Did not have dinner there but menu looked good and included breakfast was amazing for the price. Friendly staff directed us on a self guided walk to waterfall the next day and phoned taxi for us back to Sapa. Overall a nice place to stay out of the way.

    Very Good

Great location outside of Sapa for a quieter experience. We stayed for 3 nights and found it very relaxing. The owner was wonderful and had plenty of advice on treks for self guided adventures. Booked our bus to Ha Giang through hostel for a very reasonable price too. Only one shower and toilet to share between all guests, so would rate higher if more. Would stay again if in Sapa area.
