If you want to hike Taroko National Park there is so better place to stay! The location is literally at the gate to the park with a park shuttle bus stop, 7/11 and a couple other restaurants close by. My girlfriend and I stayed in a 4 bed mixed dorm and the facilities were more than enough for what we needed. The host was amazing and he helped us plan our next steps and also provided a USB stick so I could print off some hiking permits.

Lovely family hostel! I came at the end of CNY and ended up being the only person in the entire hostel on my last night. The owner drove me to Hualien to go to the night market so I wouldn’t be all alone, which was so nice of him! Nice quiet place that’s close to all of the hikes

Taroko Liwu’s absolute selling point is its location: if you want to get close to the Taroko National Park- this is probably the most cost-effective option. There are 2 buildings: the main one and a separate building on busy seasons. There’s a laundry on the premises but the hostel itself looks a bit rundown. Never had issues with warm water showers but the rooms (esp in the extended building) could be outfitted with mosquito repellants. The semi-private toilet inside dorms are great addition.

Ken is really nice and helpful and also the location of the hostel is very good, right next to the entrance of taroko national. The accommodation is simple but ok. So if you want to visit taroko national it is the perfect home base.

The location is right at the gate to Taroko Park, the owner is really nice, however this hostel is basically a place to sleep and nothing else. The hostel provides the bare minimum (a bed and shower, no soap), and there isn't any reason to spend time in Taroko Town (located at the entrance to Taroko Park). If location is priority, I would suggest just staying in Taroko Park itself, otherwise stay in Hualien City, there you would have things to do outside of the hostel.
