Love this place!! Perfect place to stay before/after Abel Tasman tramp. Great showers and comfy beds. Felt so at home and welcome. Not many indoor lounge areas but lots of outdoor, so when the weather is nice you’re in luck! Same with kitchen — indoor kitchen was tough to use when busy, but the outdoor one seemed nice. Recommend the Barn without a doubt to anyone! My 55 year old parents who never stay in hostels even stayed here and loved it.

The Barn is located directly outside the Abel Tasman and it is a truly beautiful and tranquil place. The sunrises were incredible. Very friendly staff and guests, nice kitchen and dining space, bathrooms were clean and bedrooms were comfortable. Would definitely recommend!

Great hostel, very clean and AMAZING location, the wifi was basically non existent though, I regret paying for it, other than that it was a refreshing stay after an exhausting week

Very nice hostel. Well located right in Abel Tasman, nice view of the sea and mountains from the hostel. Very clean and tidy. Well stocked kitchen. Showers and toilets are located in separate buildings from rooms so a little chilly in winter but the rooms and common areas are well heated and cosy. There is a well stocked shop in hostel if you forget anything. Their main downfall is the fact you have to pay for wifi - it's good wifi but should be included. Only 100mb included.

Bit chilly in winter going between buildings to use the toilet but would be great in summer. Lovely place, comfortable with great facilities.

We were here in late autumn so it was pretty cold. In the summer this place would be perfect. But the rooms were nice and clean and the heater kept us warm when we were in there. The location is perfect for doing all sorts of activities in Abel Tasman. The staff were very helpful when it came to planning what to do. Overall great stay!

Great place to start/finish the Abel Tasman. Super cosy, stayed an extra night in the rubbish weather. Kitchen might be a little small when it's busy though!

Stayed in a private bunkbed cabin. Heater was good, but only stays on for 30 minutes so it can get cold at night. Not very nice when it was raining as all facilities are separate. Kitchen was decent but no freezer available. TV room was nice and cosy. Pillows aren't the best. Main surprise was that you only get 100MB of free WiFi for 1hr which resets every 24 hours. You have to pay for more. Mobile data was very patchy. Overall a decent place that is probably much nicer in the summer.

We had a private cabin for the 2 of us. Probably better during the summer when it's nice and warm as the bathroom and kitchen are a short 1-2 minute walk away so it can't get cold and dark after 6pm. Right next to the start of coastal path but otherwise far away from other point of interest. Would only come back here in the summer when I think it would be pretty fun.
